Bargain alternative to Canon's 1.4x Teleconverter?,
By Scott Flathouse (Pampa, TX USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sigma 1.4x APO Tele Converter for Canon SLR Cameras (Electronics)
The Sigma APO teleconverter is a little more than half the price of the Canon teleconverter, and it boasts an APO element to reduce chromatic aberration. I've found this teleconverter to be reasonably sharp, but there is noticeable vignetting when I use it with my Canon 300mm f4. Sigma claims that the teleconverter is designed to be matched with their high-end tlelphoto lenses, and perhaps this is the case. However, I wasn't very satisfied with the performance of this teleconverter.

This teleconverter just adds a little oomph to the 70-200 range at the same time it retains the sharp and quick focus/autofocus capability of the lens. Was shipped quickly!

I have been using this converter with my 100-300mm Sigma F4.0 with superb results. It has produced very sharp pictures with no detectable vignetting. In fact, you would be hard-pressed to see the difference between this combination and my prime Canon 400mm F5.6. Keep up the good work Sigma... highly recommended!!
