The Sigma 17-35mm f2.8 EX aspherical HSM lens combines a fast f2.8-f4 maximum aperture with an ultra-wide-angle zoom of 17-35mm. Also, by incorporating aspherical lens elements in the front and rear lens groups, it corrects spherical aberration that could distort your images. The internal focusing system prevents the deterioration of optical quality when you are at a close distance to your subject, and it eliminates the rotation of the front barrel during focusing. The lens materials used in this lens are lead-free and arsenic-free ecological glass. This model is dedicated to Pentax AF SLR cameras.

I recently started wedding photography, and I must say this was a great purchase to handle my group portraits. I don't use the f2.8-4.0 range. I mainly use f5.6 or f7.1 for my group shots. This lens is very sharp at f4.0 but for group purposes f6.3 is my target. I use this lens on my Pentax K5 and Kr. The high ISO ranges on my cameras compensate for not having the steady f/2.8. In today's DSLR market, if a camera has pretty ISO ranges, having a steady f/2.8 is not really necessary especially if you are on a budget like myself. This lens really makes a difference when you are in close quarters or want to get very personal with your subjects. Landscape photography is very good with this lens when I go into the tight streets of Charleston, South Carolina. I highly recommend this lens. I don't own any Pentax lenses. Good job Sigma.
