Product Description

Product Description

This ultra telephoto zoom lens offers a fast aperture of F2.8 at the 500mm focal length and F5.6 at the 1000mm. It covers widely-used focal lengths from 200mm to 500mm and has a large aperture of F2.8 throughout the entire zoom range. This lens can be used to create amazing image expression with various types of photography such as astrophotography, portraits, wildlife, sports. SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass and three ELD (Extraordinary Low Dispersion) glass elements provide excellent correction for all type of aberrations. The super multi-layer coating reduces flare and ghosting and provides high image quality from the extremely large aperture. The lens hood, designed exclusively for this lens, blocks out extraneous light. A 72mm filter can be inserted at the rear of the lens, and a circular polarizing filter can be used in situ thanks to the ingenious internal rotation mechanism. The dedicated Li-ion battery BP-21 is used to power the zooming and AF operation. This battery is built in the lens barrel. For the convenience of the photographer, focusing distances and focal lengths can be viewed on the lens' built-in LCD panel.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's a dud! HELP!, November 11, 2009
I live across a river from someone whose sole purpose in life appears to be tormenting me with the theme from "The Love Boat" played full blast at 4AM every morning. When I tried to retaliate by blasting the "Teletubbies" theme music back at him, he simply laughed and did naked somersaults into the water. Desperate, I even rowed across to his house bearing a gift of precious, delicious and creamy Tuscan Milk Tuscan Whole Milk, 1 Gallon, 128 fl oz in the hopes that he would sign a peace treaty (I had a couple left over from World War II). He chugged the milk down (who wouldn't) and proceeded to eat the tattered pages of the peace accord! I was shocked. I even dressed in my most formal diplomatic outfit reserved only for high-ranking dignitaries - a 3 Wolf Moon shirt and Zubaz Pants! The Mountain Men's Three Wolf Moon Short Sleeve Tee Zubaz Pants: Red/White Zubaz Zebra Pants

I rowed back to my place (actually a van bought from my buddy Matt Foley) and decided that the only way to deal with someone like this was with firepower. Good old American firepower. I needed something with kick that could lob a high-explosive shell across the river and teach my good neighbor a lesson. Now, normally I go to Bill's Waffles and Army Surplus for all my paramilitary needs, but the recession hit him and he had to close up shop. Then I thought to myself... if Amazon sells the Badonkadonk tank JL421 Badonkadonk Land Cruiser/Tank then maybe, just maybe I can pick up some artillery there too!

I was in luck. I originally wanted something like the M115 Howitzer 203mm caliber artillery gun. A quick search brought me to this SIGMA 200-500mm adjustable-caliber beauty, a bargain at $28,999.00 with free shipping! I had never heard of SIGMA before - must be a newer arms company. Anyway, I was impressed by the photo of this cannon being used in a handheld fashion! That meant huge savings on the Army truck I would have had to buy to tow it around. But that's where the goodness ended...

You see, no matter how hard I tried, I could not get this damned thing loaded with shells, much less fire the damn thing. I tried both the M106 and the MkI High Explosive rounds to no avail (those things are heavy!)... Adjusting the barrel did not help, either.

Can someone tell me how they were able to load and fire the weapon?

.... Love.... exciting and new.... come aboard.... we're expecting YOOOOUUUUU!!

By the way Amazon, it's spelled "cannon", not "canon"...

5.0 out of 5 stars Like Shooting Fish In A Barrel, August 31, 2009
Simply stated , the Sigma 200-500 f/2.8 APO EX is sick! The Amazon price point is 'spot on'! as well! What an incredible value. Imagine, the ability to launch artillery in a manner which takes out large groups with a single shot! Originally, I puchased the Sigma APO EX for large game hunting in Africa but quickly discovered its usefullness in tactical operations. Whilst hunting endangered elephant, I was approached by an indigenoius tribe of more than 100 people. Let's just say that spears and rocks were no match for my Sigma and armor plated vehicle. When the smoke cleared, the Sigma was shiny as day one and the tribesman were no more. I then dicovered the Sigma's ability to adapt. Whether pirating off the Somolai coast or used in the small takeovers of coastal islands of the Phillipines, this little number is sure to leave an impression on locals. Heck,, on one island we approached under cover of night and the villagers awoke to a fully illuminated night sky! They actually began praying, bowing, and chanting to this wonder from Sigma thinking it was a god! Needless to say, when I unleashed the pure power of the Sigma 200-500 f/2.8 directly unto them, they met their god quick enough. In concusion, since owning the Sigma 200-500, I have pirated numerous ships and increased my net worth to over 18 million dollars, made myself president of over 11 islands, forced the marriage of 19 brides, and stricken fear into locals of an epic scale! The Sigma has more than payed for itself. I HIGHLY RECCOMEND if your need is conquer, destroy, and mame. Crystal clear and evident are the changes brought about by the Sigma 200-500 f/28 APO EX!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing!, June 24, 2009
The Sigma 200-500 is simply amazing. Yes it's a little pricey, but if shooting long-range targets is your passion, this is the piece for you. Just last week I was using mine to shoot some deer out in a field. I was probably about 300 yards away from them. With the Sigma I was quickly and easily able to line up a nice shot. The detail on the image was amazing...so crisp and clear, so I could aim exactly where I needed with no fear of missing or blowing the shot. With that I pulled the trigger and took the shot. The deer dropped immediately. When I approached it I found my shot hit my mark exactly. The deer's neck was almost completely separated only attached to the body by a small thread of flesh. Getting this deer head and neck mounted to display in my den was so much easier than normal as the part I needed was already separated from the deer. This is simply the best piece of artillery I've ever used. I highly recommend.
