Disappointed,

This review is from: Sigma 24-135mm f/2.8-4.5 IF Autofocus Lens for Canon SLR Cameras (Electronics)
I purchased this for a Canon 30D because I shoot low light situations. I have had success with Sigma lenses before so I thought this would be a good lense to have. It is extremely slow to react and to auto focus and my low light photos actually did not come out any better than with previous lenses. I think it is better suited for portraits than action shots. If I had used this previously, I would not have purchased it.

Positives:
Nice wide angle for cameras with 1.6 crop factor like the Digital Rebel, 20D, and 30D. Works well with landscape photos. Good range for a walk around lens. This lens has survived my hiking abuse. Negatives: Lens extends when zooming, as opposed to lenses where the zoom is internal. Lens Creep: the lens extends when pointed down for periods of time. Front of lens rotates with zoom, so polarizers are more difficult to setup. Large filter size is required, so it is more expensive.

Very practical zoom range for everyday use.
Picture Quality: Very good picture quality in every aspect. Auto Focus: I must say the auto focus is amazingly quick. Of course, at poor contrast objects it might keep hunting nervously but not within long distance. Negative: Zoom is not internal, so it extends. Also, when pointed downwards, the lens extends down (creeps). When focusing, the front part rotates. Use of polarizer no recommended.

The best lense for the value.,

This lense has been their for me since day one. I think it is really good in low light situations where the 2.8 comes in handy. The shot is clear and sharp. The autofocus isnt as fast as a L series Canon lense but for the price you cannot complain. It is a good all around lense and is perfect for a beginner to a pro. This lense will stay on your camera most of the time.
