Awesome lenses.,
By Joshua "Joshua" (Los Angeles, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sigma 28-70mm & 70-300mm AF Lens Set For Canon EOS 50D, 40D, 30D, 20D, 10D, Digital Rebel XT, XTi, XS, XSi, & T1i Digital SLR Cameras (Electronics)
I was honestly worried ordering these because the old saying "you get what you pay for." I've been happy with every shot though. The main lens I wanted was the 70-300mm for zoom shots and I love it. The 28-70mm performs well too. If you are an amateur just looking to expand your camera's capabilities these are perfect. The only bad thing about these lens's is they are not the super performance, super expensive ones the pro's use. This can't really count against the star count because they are not supposed to be. They are great for the price and if someone can get a better deal I'd like to know about it.

I'm just getting started in the DSLR area, and I'm on a very tight budget. I did some research on different lenses, and wanted something that would supplement the kit lens that came with my Canon Xt. I knew I wanted a 70-300 lens, and when I found this set with the 28-70 lens also included, I felt I had found a good buy.
I've used both lens for a couple of months now, and I've been very pleased with both of them. I know they're not the same as the higher priced lens, but I'm extremely happy with them. They both have a good heavy feel to them, very solid; the auto-focusing works wonderfully, and when I put either lens on the camera, it always feels stable - no play in them whatever. In the future, I may move up to more expensive lens, but I imagine I'll keep a set of these on hand, as well. They were such a good buy that I can use them while traveling, and won't have to worry about damaging a high-ticket lens.

I was a little reserved about buying these lenses, but I am 100% satisfied that I bought them. I just got back from Bonnaroo and the 70-300 was totally key. It took great shots and stood up okay for night shots. That said, at 2.8 the 28-70mm has you covered. I also have a fixed 50 (1.8) for extremely low light (i.e. concerts).

I know there are better lenses but as a new comer to photography, I was able to pick this lense up at a decent price, as opposed to some of the more expensive lenses out there. Eventually I am hope my photography skills will outgrow this lense, but so far it does everything a entry level photographer would want. I use it on a Canon Rebel with good results.

So, to be more specific than the product description, this is not the 28-70/ 2.8 straight through lens. I should have known by the price that it was too good to be true. The 70-300 is a great zoom, but doesn't seem completely crisp. Either way, a pretty good starter kit, but bad product description.
