The high-performance Sigma 28-200mm F3.5-5.6 Compact Hyper Zoom Aspherical lens is ideal for travel and action photography due to the wide range of focal lengths from 28mm wide angle to 200mm telephoto. Features 2 aspherical lenses for excellent correction for all types of aberration, as well as delivering high image quality throughout the zoom range. At the 200m telephoto setting, the lens is capable of macro photography with a 1:3:8 maximum magnification. The minimum focusing distance is 48cm at all zoom settings. For use with Nikon cameras.

This is a nice compact lens at a great price! It fits so easily into a camera bag and is great for travel and just having a all-around general purpose lens with a great zoom...it's really like having 2 lenses in 1! (a 28-80mm, and a 70-200mm zoom lens). I really don't notice any aberrations in the picture quality, and it works just fine with the Nikon camera body. The only supposed drawback is that Nikon camera bodies purport to use a "3D Matrix Metering" system that allows distance to be used to enhance picture quality (and that feature only works on Nikon G and D lenses), but the pictures that I've taken in the automatic mode of the camera look pretty good. Anyway, to sum it up:
1. 2 lenses in 1
2. *very* compact, fits almost anywhere!
3. great price
4. good optics

I have had this lens for 4-5 years. I like sigma lenses, however parts are no longer available for this lens. I thought that was strange since this is not an old lens. Because of this problem I am apprehensive to buy another Sigma fearing parts being discontinued for other Sigma lenses. Most people keep there lenses for a life time. Now this lens is trash. It won't be replaced with a Sigma.
