Honestly the tripod and the small tripod are pretty bad. The tripod is functional but wobbles when you extend the boom. The filters are good and I've worked with them and gotten good results. 3.0 out of 5 stars It's all in the Lenses
I bought this lense kit to go with a new Canon XTI camera. The lenses are ok, a bit slow for sports photography which is what I wanted it for but they are ok for general purpose shots and if you are starting out like me.

The rest of the kit is low quality gimmicks to bluk out the purchase; the words "pro Accessory kit" should be taken with a grain of salt...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great starter kit, December 19, 2006
This review is from: Sigma 70-300mm & 28-70mm DG Lens Set + Pro Accessory Kit for Canon EOS 50D, 40D, 30D, 20D (Electronics)
Honestly the tripod and the small tripod are pretty bad. The tripod is functional but wobbles when you extend the boom. The filters are good and I've worked with them and gotten good results. The 300mm zoom is great. Even if this kit doesn't include the APO lens it is still great. If you take a look at the Sigma site you'll notice the aberration difference is minimal. I've used the 28-70 lens in replacement to the stock 18-55mm Canon XTi lens. It is smaller, but nosier. Its performance is very good and has a respectable response time in auto focus.

The bundled bags are great too. Specially the Samsonite one as the other bag has trouble fitting the 300mm lens when its on the camera. And obviously you'd have it on the camera as there is no room for anything else. The Samsonite fits the camera with the 300mm on and an extra lens. Be it the 70mm or the stock 55mm.

I give it 5 stars because even if some of the items are not even 2 stars the whole kit is certainly 5 star given its price. There are other better lenses. But none give you these benefits for such a low price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great stuff and a great deal, January 3, 2007

This review is from: Sigma 70-300mm & 28-70mm DG Lens Set + Pro Accessory Kit for Canon EOS 50D, 40D, 30D, 20D (Electronics)
The lenses are great. These sigma lenses have a better build quality than the Nikon kit lenses. They're also faster f/2.8 vs f/3.5. Only negative is they do not have built in focus motors so they use the camera's. This means slightly slower and not silent focusing. Not a big deal in my opinion. The 28-70 is wide enough for most and the reach on the 70-300 is amazing.

As for the rest of the accessories. Cheap no-name (digital innovations) but they get the job done. The filters aren't as coated as they advertise and i get some lens flare when using them with bright light sources. Both cases work great. First large tripod they sent me was junk (see next paragraph). Mini tripod suffices for the 28-70 but will not hold up the 70-300 lens. They neglected to send me the software CD but no loss as the same kind of program is available as freeware.

Make sure 47th street camera sends you the right stuff. I had to call in and request they send me a better tripod (advertised as 60" here but they sent me something smaller and without a geared center column) They ended up sending me a free 70" opteka tripod which as I said is great. They also sent me a cleaning kit without a blower brush but they fixed that without a hassle as well.

All in all, a great deal for great camera accessories. 47th Street Photo is easy to work with but make sure you get what you pay for.

So much stuff for the money. Lenses feel and work smooth, zoom ring turns the opposite direction as my canon lenses, takes a little getting used to. The long zoom really gets you close to the action, and the macro feature lets you zoom in really tight without being right on top of your subject.

4.0 out of 5 stars good kit for beginners, January 9, 2007

If you're on a budget and you want to broaden your camera accessories for your Canon EOS- this kit is excellent for beginners. The tripod head doesn't necessarily work well with heavy, off balanced lens, but for the price- this is a good start.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great purchase with a Rebel XSi body, August 28, 2008
This review is from: Sigma 70-300mm & 28-70mm DG Lens Set + Pro Accessory Kit for Canon EOS 50D, 40D, 30D, 20D (Electronics)
This was my first time purchasing a professional SLR. I bought a Canon Rebel XSi (body) and was looking for a good lens. I came across this kit (which seemed to good to be true, of course). I'm usually skeptical, since I've read in ripoffreport.com about places that offer kits like these and end up scamming you.

Anyway, I received it ONTIME (2days) and with everything except the SAMSONITE BAG. I was a bit worried, so I called right-away and spoke to a representative that politely explained why the SAMSONITE bag wasn't included.

He said since what you are really paying for is for the lenses, all the other accessories weren't priced. They ran-out of the SAMSONITE bags and instead gave me a VIDPRO bag along with a smaller HOLSTER CAMERA CASE. They also gave me a SAMSONITE tripod, which I wasn't expecting it to be that brand.

All in all, I'm very happy with the purchase, I didn't complain about the bag missing, he was very nice and said if I had any questions to call back.

4 stars because they don't have it specified that the SAMSONITE bags are not offered. It is an excellent purchase to go along with just a purchase of a Canon Camera body.

Hope that helps!

You ultimately pay for what you get. My advise is to source a good lense for what you want and do expect to pay a little more.

5.0 out of 5 stars so far, It has been a great buy and definently met my expectations, June 18, 2008
This review is from: Sigma 70-300mm & 28-70mm DG Lens Set + Pro Accessory Kit for Canon EOS 50D, 40D, 30D, 20D (Electronics)
I went on a vacation to Yellowstone right after i received the lenses and they allowed me to take so many more pictures than i could with my old lens. I was able to take alot of pictures of wildlife with the 70-300mm telephoto lens and i was able to fit entire landscapes easily with the 28-70mm lens. the filters that come with the package also increased the clarity and contrast of my pictures. The lens cleaning kit did not work very well and i was pretty dissatisfied with it and the tripod is ok but very cheap so it cannot support the telephoto lens. the whole package was very great for its price and i am overall pleased with it but i did not expect all of the things other than the lenses to be cheap products from wal-mart. the delivery was fast to and it came with everything thats mentioned. if you have the money and are looking for affordable and useful lenses that can handle many different situations then i defiantly recommend this kit. The lenses are not quite professional quality but they sure do get the job done. it was like christmas morning opening up all the stuff that came in the package.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super Deal. Awesome price., June 26, 2007
This review is from: Sigma 70-300mm & 28-70mm DG Lens Set + Pro Accessory Kit for Canon EOS 50D, 40D, 30D, 20D (Electronics)
I am very pleased with my purchase of these products, my wife is just starting out on her photography hobby and all the research I did and all the places I looked these are awesome products. Some of the accessories might be a little on the aftermarket side but for a few more bucks why not? I give this a 5 star rating as this kit is affordable and awesome for beginners. The lenses are well built and the cases are awesome.

Saw this online. I only needed to get the 70-300 but got the 28-70 for the same price many others are selling the Tele for.
Very Satisfied.
