Great Purchase,

This review is from: Sigma 70mm f2.8 EX DG Macro Lens (Canon Mount) (Electronics)
I probably just echo Thomas Summer's comments, but this is a great lens at any price, and in comparison to the cost of the Canon equivalent it is a super value purchase. Even though lens reviews and tests are usually based on just one example, the review in Popular Photography convinced me, and I am glad I made the choice. My only complaint is I don't really like the dull, "sandblast" finish, but I can live with the cosmetics for the build and lens quality. One feature I really like is that I can use it both on my digital and full frame film camera bodies.

Superb construction,
This review is from: Sigma 70mm f2.8 EX DG Macro Lens (Canon Mount) (Electronics)
I tried the Canon 60 macro for a month and it was okay but ended up buying the 70 mm Sigma macro. The extra reach and, IMO, much sturdier build quality decided my purchase. Three other lenses I own are Canon L lenses, so I am critical about lens quality. The Sigma 70 macro is as sharp as a tack. A superb lens.

i started using this lens only in close up pictures then i found that i can focus to infinity with it. i use it as an all around lens now. it helps of course that it is a 2.8 lens. the only things i can't shoot with it is for detail in far off picture. still need the ole 70-300 or 50-500 lenses for that.
