5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Introduction to Six Sigma
This book was well worth my time and money! Being a Six Sigma beginer, I found this book to be easy to follow and comprehend.

Explained is the DMAIC process model, Voice of Customer (VOC), Voice of Process (VOP)and Design of Experements (DOE) in clarifying detail. Best of all, it includes step-by-step explanations of project experiments and the statistical...

2.0 out of 5 stars Blackbelt level book
This book in my opinion is not written at a green belt level. The opening 12 pages get into Taguchi functions which is very advanced. Book seems to be written for people getting a specific certification which is a University of Miami certification, however if you are looking for a more universal text that is more accessible Warren Brussee has two texts that seem to be...

5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Introduction to Six Sigma, July 20, 2006
This review is from: Six Sigma for Green Belts and Champions: Foundations, DMAIC, Tools, Cases, and Certification (Hardcover)
This book was well worth my time and money! Being a Six Sigma beginer, I found this book to be easy to follow and comprehend.

Explained is the DMAIC process model, Voice of Customer (VOC), Voice of Process (VOP)and Design of Experements (DOE) in clarifying detail. Best of all, it includes step-by-step explanations of project experiments and the statistical analyses from the expereiments using Minitab 14!

Whether you want to learn the basics of the Six Sigma process (Chapters 1-8) and / or basic Six Sigma statistical tools and methods (Chapters 9-15), I highly recommend this book!

Note: Minitab 14 (Statistical software)is free for 30 days and the associated minitab-formatted excercise worksheets are down-loadable from the publisher's website.

5.0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive Textbook at Black Belt Level, March 27, 2007

I was surprised by the well balanced and complete coverage of the Six Sigma methodology from DMAIC, including managerial steps, all the way to statistics up through Design of Experiments. The all inclusive topics seem to parallel full Black Belt training. I would expect green belts to be offered selections from the book in a standard course. I would say no other book has this "textbooky" look and feel (that is not meant as a criticism). At the end of chapters find Minitab instructions including screen shots. The material is well written, hence understandable, hence I think this is one of the best overall introductions to the subject without slamming the reader with high levels of mathematical theory.

4.0 out of 5 stars Six Sigma GB, March 13, 2007
This review is from: Six Sigma for Green Belts and Champions: Foundations, DMAIC, Tools, Cases, and Certification (Hardcover)
I think this book is an excellent resource for experienced Six Sima managers. However, if you want to buy this book as a study guide for the SSGB certification test, or as an introduction to Six Sigma, it isn't going to help you out much. I guess my lowered rating is due to the fact that the book didn't meet my expectations as it was described on the Amazon site.

2.0 out of 5 stars Blackbelt level book, November 12, 2011

This review is from: Six Sigma for Green Belts and Champions: Foundations, DMAIC, Tools, Cases, and Certification (Hardcover)
This book in my opinion is not written at a green belt level. The opening 12 pages get into Taguchi functions which is very advanced. Book seems to be written for people getting a specific certification which is a University of Miami certification, however if you are looking for a more universal text that is more accessible Warren Brussee has two texts that seem to be much easier for students to understand.

You need to understand your audience. If you have high level high functioning potenitlal black belt individuals then this text may apply, but if you have people that are not in that category, I would recommend Warren Brussee's texts much more.

Item is brand new, The price is very good. It has a scratch on the cover which seems to be caused by something hardly rubbed on it. but good purchase, definitely will buy other special offers like this.

5.0 out of 5 stars If stranded on an island with a need to practice Six Sigma..., February 28, 2010

This review is from: Six Sigma for Green Belts and Champions: Foundations, DMAIC, Tools, Cases, and Certification (Hardcover)
This is a very practical and well done introduction to Six Sigma, the DMAIC framework, and introductory statistics using Minitab. As a trainer, it has become my primary recommendation for Green (and even Black) Belts. In fact, if you find yourself stranded on a desert island with a constraint of bringing with you only one book and a need to practice Six Sigma, this book would be my recommendation.

As an aside, Kindle for PC and iPhone make it possible to reference and *search* the text from anywhere without lugging around the book. This is just the sort of resource that benefits from the Kindle for X technology. Great stuff!

5.0 out of 5 stars So practical, May 21, 2011

Forget all those IMPRACTICAL books by the George Group and Pyzdek, this is the only one for the practical person. Full of HOW TO DO IT and case studies and even examples that you download from the web and practise, it leaves all the other "preachers" for dead.

Even for Blackbelts this is one of the best investments you can make. I wish he would come out with one for BB's but I am guessing there is less of a market for this. This one nails it without all the Marketing Crap that goes along with the others!

If you are not being recommended this book by a BB or MBB, my guess is that they are stuck in the marketing spin of George Group!! Sad really!"
