Product Description

Size: 62mm | Style: Polarized

Designed for use with autofocus and multifocus SLR cameras, the Sigma 62mm circular polarizing filter cuts the glare from water and nonmetallic surfaces, letting you enjoy crisper, clearer images. A circular polarizer is intended to improve color saturation and contrast, performing such tasks as darkening the sky in color photography without affecting the color balance. The filter's multilayer coating, meanwhile, optimizes protection for the lens while further reducing reflection. The filter--which is designed to especially benefit wide-angle lenses without vignetting--fits lenses with 62mm filter threads. Note that the polarizing filter does not have a thread on the front filter ring.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great filter, September 3, 2009

The filter is crystal clear and works perfectly. I would put this against any of my B&W filters any day.

It's funny, I ordered this as I needed a 72MM pol filter in a rush and I couldn't find a B&W 72MM in stock at that time. I was going to "settle" for this until I could get a B&W to replace the sigma filter. I have since purchased three other sigma filters and love them all.

Great filter at a good price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for the Sigma 10-20mm, September 15, 2008
Purchased this filter to go on my Sigma 10-20mm wide-angle Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM Lens for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras and it works perfectly. This filter was designed with this lens in mind or at least it would appear that way. Vignetting is minimal. Great unit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth paying more for this, August 1, 2009

I've been using this on Canon lenses for some time. Over the years, I've tried the cheapest polarizers I could find and slim, expensive German models. The cheap polarizers work, but their thickness means a lighting penalty: you lose at least 2 stops of light, and they introduce vignetting (fall-off at the edge of the frame) and reduce overall image contrast. That's why it's worth paying more for this model, which performs every bit as well as my expensive German slice of glass but at a far more reasonable price.

This filter cuts glare without a great penalty in exposure, and I haven't been able to spot any vignetting. It is very solidly constructed, and I like that the outer metal rim of the filter is notched: that means I can use one finger to dial in the right angle of polarization when using a lens hood.

Overall, I am very impressed -- it's worth spending a little more to get far better performance.
