Sigma's Nordic Watch useful?, November 22, 2007
This review is from: Sigma Nordic Watch Heart Rate Monitor (Misc.)
I am an ambitious Nordic Walkers and try to have the latest NW equipment.
I bought this Sigma HRM/Training Coach in September 07 to test it. I got several SIGMA BIKE cOMPUTERS and they are very good.
I installed it like the manual recommends on my right NW pole.By January 08 it did not pick up my heart signals anymore. The bracket was also unable to flip it in the right angle.
I called Sigma USA and they replaced it. Very good so far but be carefull.
Now I use it only on a lanyard. These type of HRM require a breastband that sometimes stops transmitting signals, no glue why.
When you forget to put the breast band on before you dress for walking it's a hassle.
The piece is working like the other Sigma HRM running or walking monitors but has no pedometer features.
Sigma is top notch quality but actually I do not see any specific need for Nordic Walking. Heart rates can be monitored by those wrist band watches. If the pedometer part is missing so what?
So for me this piece is another product to jump on the bandwagon of Nordic Walking products that has become a tidal wave of popularity in Germany by now. Sorry but this is A gimmick.
