5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the money
These cards are great for learning basic signs with your kids. Older kids learn fast from the cards, and toddlers enjoy them too, but be sure to laminate them because they bend and tear easily in toddlers' hands. The pictures can also be used for communication before the signs are memorized because a child can point to what they want by finding the picture card.

3.0 out of 5 stars signing for babies
I think signing is a valuable tool for communicating w/young babies who can't yet express w/words. These cards provide basic everyday used words

in simple sign language. My daughter uses them regularly and it's terrific.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not for children under two years old, April 6, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sign Babies ASL Flash Cards, Set Four: Family Life (Cards)
There are several issues that make these cards essentially useless for children under two years old:

1) The huge company logo on the front which distracts from the image, confuses the message for an infant, and is larger than the typed word that is to be learned.

2) Too busy: too many possible interpretations of the meaning on the card.

3) Wrong colors: infants respond better to black and white and bold colors and lines. These are printed with pastel colors and blurred lines.

4) Choice of words: to get the 10 most common words an infant would need, one has to buy all three sets of cards. The pack with "sister" and "brother" does not have "mama" and "papa".

Other reviewers seemed to like them--perhaps they are not familiar with some of the details of how infants learn or have not found a better choice.

This is the second set of flash cards that we have bought in the Sign Babies set. Just like the first ones, I am very pleased. The pictures are very straightforward and clear. I am rarely confused by the instructions for the signs and because of this I think they are done well. Highly recommended product for those looking to teach their infants to sign.

I got several sets of these cards and I love all of them. I punched a hole in the top corner and put a binder ring on them. Now I can tote them around in my diaper bag! These are great and I love how many signs I'm going to be able to teach my LO!

I started signing with my 8-month-old son. He got it after a couple of months, and from that point on, life was much easier. Great for parents who want to communicate with an infant who is in turmoil out of frustration because you don't understand what they want or need.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sign Babies, September 24, 2007
This review is from: Sign Babies ASL Flash Cards, Set Four: Family Life (Cards)
I purchased these flash cards to help my family learn ASL as I have two hard of hearing children who are learning at school. The children like the pictures and often look through them on their own practicing the signs. My one complaint is that some of them have been simplified to be easier for small children with poor motor skills and the card does not show the correct sign.
