5.0 out of 5 stars An 80`s metal classic, definately underrated
Greetings my fellow autograph friends. I would jusy like to say this album rocks from beginning to end. I discovered Autograph in late 1998 while browsing through an old Circus magazine I had brought at a Kiss convention. I saw the ad for 'Sign In Please' and figured I`d go out and buy it. I have to admit, the first time I played it I wasn`t that impressed, but after a...

3.0 out of 5 stars Lose the Keyboards!!!
I bought this album a while back because Turn up the Radio is a great 80's anthem and I figured there should be other great songs on the record. I listened to the first 2 songs "Send Her to Me" and "Turn Up the Radio" and I was blown away! All of a sudden the keyboards started! I thought I was listening to a Europe album! Keyboards have no place in hard rock/heavy metal...

5.0 out of 5 stars An 80`s metal classic, definately underrated, November 19, 1999

I have to admit, the first time I played it I wasn`t that impressed, but after a few listens it really grew on me and has become one of my all-time favorites. This CD has everything; great choruses, razor sharp guitar playing with awesome solos and pounding, grooving drums with a splash of electronics..........I could go on and on. This CD is awesome and is definitely worth a try, especially if you don`t own it or if you are a fan of 80s metal. As for their other two follow ups, 'That`s the Stuff' and 'Loud and Clear,' they are also excellent CDs, if you can find them. 'Loud and Clear' wasn`t too hard to find, but 'That`s the Stuff' is extemely difficult to locate and if you do be prepared to fork out well over a hundred bucks for this rare CD. Anyway, 'Sign in Please' is a great album and in my mind is an underrated 80s metal classic.

P.S. Does anybody have a time machine out there? I hate the 90`s.

Autograph is a good band; too bad they got overshadowed by other hair metal bands like Poison and Cinderella. There's so much more here than just the big hit "Turn up the Radio". "Girlfriends Boyfriend" and "Non-stop" are great tunes too. If you can find That's the Stuff, it's great too. I'm lucky enough to have the tape; I heard it's out of print now. By the way---the lead singer, Steve Plunkett---he's the one who sings the theme song for the show 7th Heaven.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for this genre, April 14, 2009
This review is from: Sign In Please (Audio CD)
This album actually set the bar for what was to come from bands like Poison, Warrant, Dokken, Kix, etc. The party-glam-rock-image with great guitar had really yet to be perfected and mass produced until Autograph did it. You could argue that Van Halen was the first, but Autograph pushed the bar further. Plus, this disc contains songs that have stood the test of time with "Turn Up the Radio" still being played on classic rock stations til this day. If radio gurus would have delved a little deeper, they would have found 3-4 more hits on this cd as well. A must have if you listen to this kind of rock.

This set them off to a fairly good response from the Metal world. It contains a few of their heavier songs, although they were never considered to be heavy. This was their most popular album ever, though I thought Loud and Clear was by far their best. I too am looking for "That's the Stuff" on cd, I have it on tape, but it is not in print so you'll have to be lucky and find it on the web on one of the hundred or so used cd stores before I do. "Missing Pieces" is highly recommended for those of you who want more rock from Autograph.

5.0 out of 5 stars Who the heck is Night Ranger?, January 17, 2002

Though I have not yet heard Autograph's second release 'That's The Stuff' or their highly-acclaimed 'Loud and Clear' (their now out-of-print third album) I can tell you that their debut 'Sign In Please' is excellent. There is not a single track that will provoke you to pick up your remote and click the 'foward' button--they are all good. The band never deserved the reputation it got as a one-hit wonder; Autograph had much more great material to boot besides the single "Turn Up The Radio". Listen to the catchy "Send Her To Me" or the gorgeously melodic ballad "In the Night", "Cloud 10", or the infectiously contageous "Night Teen & Non-Stop" and you will not be able to honestly tell me that "Turn Up The Radio" was the only good song on the disc.

With 'Sign In Please' you have an incredibly under-rated 80's keyboard gem. All the players in the group are very talented, most notably the band's magnificent guitar virtuoso, Steve Lynch. Lead vocalist Steve Plunkett's singing style is very unique in comparison to many of the other rock groups with high-pitched vocals and ridiculously high-octaves (that's not necessarily a bad thing, either) in the 80's, so it is easy to differentiate his voice from the others. From the keyboards to the drums, bass, guitars and the vocals--everything is executed very tastefully on this album. Night Ranger? What? Who the heck knows what a "Night Ranger" is? Autograph all the way. 'Sign In Please' is one of THE most consistent records you will ever hear from this genre. Sadly, Autograph has been a defunct band for over twelve years now but their musical art will live on forever so buy this cd before it goes out of print like all the other great music from this decade did long ago. I would recommend this cd to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lost my virginity to this one, August 26, 2002
This review is from: Sign In Please (Audio CD)
That's right boys and girls, there was such a thing as the 80's. It rocked. The music was great, the girls were hot, and I was in a Clearasil Heavy Metal Heaven. Sure Autograph didn't rock anywhere near as hard as old Metallica, they still had catchy tunes.

Niteteen and Non-stop was playing on the tape deck when I was in the back seat of a 77 Aspen parked at the beach. Aw those were the days.

ANyone for a reunion tour? That girl in the Aspen is probably fat and married by now, but Autograph might still sound good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Musical Group Autograph, August 10, 2006
This review is from: Sign In Please (Audio CD)
A great California glamrock band of the eighties era, Autograph was a fantastic group with a fantastic sound. The album "Sign In Please" was some of the best music I believe Steve "Plunk" Plunkett ever recorded. Thats my opinion and I'm stickin to it. The first seven songs straight is one hit after another. The second track "Turn Up The Radio" is the song that drew me to the album back then and once I had the album I wanted to play it over and over non-stop. Every song on this album is great and still deserves air-play even today though most radio stations have done forgotten what Autograph was but I haven't. Glamrock to me was a magical experience back in the mid-eighties and all the groups back then were doing it. The failure of the group Autograph was not the group at all, it was in the marketing which was RCA's failure. If you like guitar roller coasters loud and wild then you'll like Autograph. It's a ride you'll never want to get off.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best Rock albums of the 80's, April 20, 2005

This review is from: Sign In Please (Audio CD)
There were a few albums that I came across during my guitar-learning days that absolutely influenced my playing and songwriting style, and this album was one of them (see my top ten list)!!! I liked EVERY song on this album, and I learned how to play several of them. From the first song "Send Her To Me" to the last "All I'm Gonna Take", this album rocked my world!
I liked Steve Lynch (George Lynch, of Dokken, 's brother) scorching guitar playing. The songs were creative and original and LOUD! I liked how tight the band was musically, and I even liked Steve Plunkett's delivery on the songs. You may not have heard much of this band, beyond hearing that single "Turn Up The Radio", but these guys were HOT stuff!!! BUY THIS ALBUM, and you'll be blown away by how good it is!

Unfortunately, Autograph just couldn't keep it up after this album. Their next two albums (that I know about) were not in the same league.
Listen and appreciate Autograph by this album only! This album ROCKED!!!
