If anyone ever deserved a 2 or 3 CD Best Of compilation, it's Kevin Coyne, one of the few truly unique singer/songwriters in rock music. His music has always been hard to categorise. He skillfully blends folk, blues, rock and avant garde music - with a little bit of paranoid schizophrenia thrown into the mix. I have virtually all of his albums - he was very prolific during the 70's. Tragically, most of these albums are no longer in print - eg: Sanity Stomp, Babble, Blame It On The Night, Millionaires & Teddybears. All of these albums are classics. This compilation, while nowhere near comprehensive enough, is full of classic Coyne songs. If I had to list my favourites, I would list nearly every song - I just wish they had found some room for my all-time favourites: Fatman and Lunatic. If you have never heard Kevin's music before BUY THIS ALBUM NOW!! One listen and you'll be hooked. |
