Horrible experience,
This review is from: Signals and Systems: Analysis of Signals Through Linear Systems (Hardcover)
Not a good book at all as an introductory signal class. I'd suggest to use books by B.P Lath, and stay away from this book as far as possible.

Bad book, select much better books by Laithi or Oppenheim,

Terrible book. Would recommend books such as Oppenheim's Signals and Systems or Laithi's Linear Systems and Signals.A very good book on the subject that is easy to follow as a quick guide is Signals and Systems Made Ridiculously Simple Stay away from Roberts book if at all possible. Confuses even easy to understand topics.

Do not buy this book if possible,

As a 3rd year EE student I have seen a lot of textbooks. This one is one of the worst textbooks I have seen. The topics covered by this book are very important but are explained very poorly. The explanations are longwinded and the few examples are far from useful. I would avoid this book if possible.

- Paragraphs marked with red and blue pen on several pages
- several sheets ripped - The book arrived in a "bag" with damaged corners - The book came in a plastic cartridge, no protection by bubble wrap or cardboard to protect the hardcover

Worked Alright for Me, but Not Recommended,

This is a pretty good book for a first time introduction to the topic, but as a reference book it is one of the worst books I have ever seen. The reason for this is that the author gives very long and fairly well written descriptions of every topic, but there are very few summary sections for future reference. So, when the reader needs a quick refresher on a particular topic they won't be to find it; they'll be forced to re-read at least one page, even for small topics. One advantage of this type of long-winded writing is that it's quite readable and you'll probably find yourself reading about 1.5 - 2 times faster than you do for most other textbooks.
The book provides a fairly good amount of both solved and unsolved problems. Unfotunately, many of them have ambiguous wording, and many solved problems have useless solutions. In fact, many "solved" problems have no answer at all! Also, solved problems that require a diagram as an answer provide the proper diagram, but it's not labelled. So, when there are many parts to a particular problem, there's no way of knowing which solution diagram is for which part of the problem. This problem is also true of most other diagrams in the book. I would not recommend this book to anyone. It worked fairly well for me, but I know there are much better books available. For example, I hear that Alan Oppenheim's book on this subject is pretty good.

Horrible book for introductory signals and systems,

I had the (bad) luck of having Dr. Roberts as my professor for Signals and Systems. Frankly, his book sucks more than his teaching style. He copied different topics and examples from different books and put it together in this book. I think a copyright specialist should take a look at this book to find out all the stuffs he copied. Not many useful examples, no detailed explanation of how to solve problems, this book is useless.

What else can you expect from a book on Signals and Systems ? I have a copy of this book and I consider it as a lifetime possession that I might need all thru my academic and professional career and having attended his classes myself at the University and interacted with him I personally feel he has expressed years of his experience into this book.
