As a kid I've always wanted one - but driving around the city & it's pot holes & elevated man hole covers (which once ripped open my transmission pan in a honda prelude) - owning one is not realistic (esp since the radiatior faces the street)
so having the model serves a second place

I own an actual red 1963 Avanti, and bought this scale model as a conversation piece to have on my desk. This model is a pretty faithful scale depiction of the details that are the styling essence of the real Avanti. There are fancier scale models of the Avanti, such as the one from the Franklin Mint, but this model is much less costly, and I like that this model is Avanti Red, matching the color of the car in my driveway. The model stylist correctly depicts important details such as the dash gauges, forward mounted mirrors and the package shelf pass-through. This model is a worthy reflection of the styling accumen of Raymond Loewy, Tom Kellog and the others who engineered the Avanti.
This model is a fun conversation starter, and you won't shed too many tears if this model gets broken or lost. The irony is this is a die cast metal model, but the real car has a fiber glass body.
