Editorial Reviews

Used by individuals, universities, churches, home schools, and businesses since 1989, the Signcourse Sign Language DVDs allow you to develop signing skills at your own pace and convenience. Better than books, video has had the ability to show the motion, speed, direction, and even important facial expressions of each sign. Even the busiest household will find that the Signcourse Sign Language DVDs easily adapt to fit any schedule. The video course is divided into fifty-seven subject-related lessons on six one-hour-long DVDs. On each DVD, lesson and sign numbers will aid the student in finding a particular section of the course, so multiple family members can use the series at the same time. Upon completion of the course you will have learned over 1,200 signs of American Sign Language (ASL), giving you an excellent foundation for communicating effectively with the deaf. Note: This program was chosen for captioning by the National Association of the Deaf with funding from the U.S. Department of Education and is closed-captioned! Course includes six DVDs and Study Guide (Test DVD is sold separately)

4.0 out of 5 stars so far, so good March 4, 2014

My son and I are doing this course together. The lady that does the signing does a good job. She repeats each sign verbally and physically 3 times before going on the next sign. She is also good to give tips(if there is one) to help you remember why the sign is a certain way. At first I thought this is easy to remember and that we could watch the session only once and we would be good. However, we find ourselves not remembering quite that easy and quickly. By watching only once, it doesnt put the sign to good memory. Since we have started watching each session for a few days in a row, we are remembering better. There is also some interesting information on deaf history that is good to know. I am happy with my purchase. I recommend this course.
