Book Description

A story by NEW YORK TIMES and USA TODAY bestselling author, Shelly Crane.

Maggie is a seventeen year old girl who's had a bad year. Her mom left, her dad is depressed, she's graduating, barely, and her boyfriend of almost three years dumped her for a college football scholarship. Lately she thinks life is all about hanging on by a thread and is gripping tight with everything she has.

Then she meets Caleb.

She saves his life and instantly knows there's something about him that's intriguing but she is supposed to be on her way to a date with his cousin. But things change when they touch, sparks ignite. Literally. They imprint with each other and she sees their future life together flash before her eyes. She learns that not only is she his soul mate, and can feel his heartbeat in her chest, but there is a whole other world of people with gifts and abilities that she never knew existed. She herself is experiencing supernatural changes unlike anything she's ever felt before and she needs the touch of his skin to survive. Now, not only has her dad come out of his depression to be a father again, and a pain as well, but Caleb's enemies know he's imprinted and are after Maggie to stop them both from gaining their abilities and take her from him. Can Caleb save her or will they be forced to live without each other after just finding one another?

Read the epic love story before the TV show!

From the Author

Caleb came closer to me, releasing my hand and framing my face with his, and I felt a flood of calm and warmth.
"Breathe, Maggie." I hadn't realized I was holding my breath. I took a deep breath and felt the air rush in and out frantically as I blinked. My head cleared a little. He smiled.  "Everything's going to be OK. All right? Just don't be upset. You don't have to be scared."
"What are you doing?" Kyle asked and pushed Caleb's hands away. The second he did that, I felt cold, oddly desperate, and heard myself gasp. "Dude. Not cool. Look, I understand that she saved you and you feel- whatever- but I told you about this girl. You can't just-"
"She's the one, Kyle," Caleb interrupted, never taking his eyes from mine. It felt like an eternity had passed since he'd first taken my hand and I was still tingling in my veins from whatever had taken place. "It's her."

4.0 out of 5 stars The plot is great, the editing was bad August 3, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Ok, I liked the book... The plot was great and it keeps your interest the whole way through. My problem was the editing; I have never (NEVER) read a book with so many mistakes in it. There were missing words, extra words, misspelled words, misused words, missing punctuation marks and extra ones all the way through this story. There were sentences that had more than one error in it and sentences that repeated the same thing over, just using different words. And yes, maybe I expect too much. There will probably be mistakes in my review that people will be sure to point out; but this book holds the record in my history of reading (and I read A LOT) for mistakes. Otherwise, except for grammatical errors... Very Good book and I had to keep reading it to find out the ending. And hopefully, there will be a sequel.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cute YA - Needs a proofreader August 6, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This author obviously has talent for storytelling. This is a well done YA book, except for one factor.....it needs a proofreader! This is the perfect example of why spell-check is not completely reliable! I felt like Inigo Montoya, "I do not think it means what you think it means..."

If I hadn't read it on my kindle, I would have put red marks all over it. It was a shame, because the actual plot and talent for dialogue is very nice. Good read, bad editor.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! July 9, 2011
By Jax
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I can't believe this story only has one review. Significance has romance, adventure, funny dialougue, an amazing supportive family, and some magical powers that come along when you find your one true love (your significant). This book really amazed me. I was not expecting much because it was only a dollar, but I enjoyed every minute of reading this story. You think that once a conflict is resolved everything will finally get better, but the fun part is when it just gets worse. Five stars to Shelly Crane. I can't wait for the next book!

Really, read this book. If you need a good YA book that has the right amount of teen romance this is the book for you. Even after a week of reading it, I still get a smile on my face just by thinking about how Caleb and Maggy meet. BUY THE BOOK!

1.0 out of 5 stars How did this get so many great reviews? April 5, 2012
By Demeter
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I'll cut to the chase: I really liked the first few chapters and then it went downhill fast from there.

The first chapters brought me in because the protagonist was relatable and I felt bad for her situation. After our heroine meets her "Soul Mate," I was somewhat intrigued...and then the rest of the book happens.

It's a complete mess. Grammar aside (it's a forgivable offense for me since I care more about the story), the plot just becomes increasingly dull as our Significant couple is relegated to pretty much this dialogue for the rest of the novel: "I love you" and "No! I love you more!"

There's no real drama, per se, that makes this book interesting. The couple never have a real falling out (besides deciding who loves each other more), and there's not that much that stands in their way. Sure, there's a bad guy in there and a couple of jealous guys, but each character never pose any real harm to the protagonist or to the couple.

Yikes, and don't get me started on this whole "Ace" business. Based on this first book of the series, I still have no feel of what the "Aces" are and what their purpose is.

Overall, I'm usually very forgiving and as long as the story entertains me I'd give at least two stars. However, this book was painfully boring with all the non-stop lovey-dovey talk. Definitely not interested in reading the next installment.

1.0 out of 5 stars Constructive Criticism January 26, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Shelly,
I was excited about your idea for this novel. I wanted to love it even more after I finished reading it. I'm extremely sorry to say that this didn't turn out to be the case.
I couldn't get past the problems with your writing to be able to enjoy the actual book. It doesn't matter how good your story is if you don't tell it well. (The problems went beyond a few missing words or typos to include: run-on sentences, tense changes, adjectives that needed hyphens, incorrect usage of commas and semicolons, etc.) This reflects very poorly on your ability as a writer.

As a consumer, I'm upset at paying for an inferior product. By charging for your work, you have moved your hobby into the realm of a professional. Readers then have a right to expect a measure of workmanship on your part. I don't believe you would accept a dish that wasn't cooked properly--no matter how beautiful or tasty it looked. In the same way, your work needed a few more rounds with a *good* editor.

The number of 5-star reviews you've garnered indicate that you have a LOT of promise and talent as an author. I believe your writing could reflect this if you would take a little time to hone your craft. I highly recommend "Self-Editing for Fiction Writers" by Renni Browne and Dave King.

Your writing should (and deserves to) live up to the promise of your great premises. I look forward to seeing your future work.

1.0 out of 5 stars One for the Did Not Finish pile October 1, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
...and it's pretty bad when you get to 91% read on your kindle and you can't even bring yourself to finish that last 9 percent.

They're soulmates. I get it. And got it the previous fifty times it was restated, played out, and on and on. The first 20% or so was great, then it was one long "No, I love you more" fest and while I love a good love story, this one was just repetitive as well. Then the story completely lost me when Caleb brought up mingling, or whatever it was called. That's when it was time to stick a fork in me, because I was done.

More About the Author

Shelly is a NEW YORK TIMES & USA TODAY bestselling author from a small town in Georgia and loves everything about the south. She is wife to a fantastical husband and stay-at-home mom to two boisterous and mischievous boys who keep her on her toes. She hoards paperbacks, devours sweet tea, searches year-round for candy corn, and loves to spend time with her family and friends, go out to eat at new restaurants, site-see in the new areas they travel to, listen to music, and, of course, loves to read, but doesn't have much time to these days with all the characters filling her head begging to come out.

Her own books happen by accident and she revels in the writing and imagination process. She doesn't go anywhere without her notepad for fear of an idea creeping up and not being able to write it down immediately, even in the middle of the night, where her best ideas are born.
