2.0 out of 5 stars Waste of money
I must be crazy considering the other reviews, but I found this a total waste of money. We bought six of the DVD's and used three and only couple of times. Both my son and I find it boring. Yes, it is educational, but other than use of bright colors, I don't find it entertaining. I could not keep my son in front of the TV when I turned this on. To my opinion, even though...

As the mother of twins, one hearing and one deaf, I have had the opportunity to check out many programs for teaching ASL to small children. This is by far the best series out there. Most other products are so boring that parents must struggle to stay awake during the production, and there is no way a toddler would tolerate a viewing. My 2-year-old twins request Signing Time all of the time. At home they want the DVDs playing almost constantly. In the car my hearing daughter starts asking for the Signing Time CD before I even have her strapped into her carseat. My 2-year-old deaf daughter is using 5-sign sentences, which is almost unheard of for the deaf child of hearing parents. My extended family owns a total of 6 sets of Signing Time. Whenever my daughters' cousins have a birthday they ask for the latest Signing Time DVDs. Children of all ages love this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product, December 16, 2008
This review is from: Signing Time! Volume 10: My Day (DVD)
My speech delayed son loves this dvd. He doesn't say his sisters' names, but he can say Alex and Leah. This dvd helped him go from one word signs to two word signs like "good morning".

This is just another great addition to the Signing Time series. I cannot say enough about this entire series. I bought the DVD's for my son who has Autism and has trouble communicating and to my delight, all of my children will sit and enjoy these DVD's together. They are educational yet fun and easy to follow. Adults will love them too!

My daughter is 6 years old and is non verbable autisic. With Signing Time DVDs she is learning a fun way to sign and she enjoys watching Rachel,Leah,Alex, and Hopkins. We are learning more and more signs every time. However the only problem is I wish they did videos because DVD's get messed up alot. I would recommened this and any other Signing Time dvds a good product.

The entire Signing Time! and Baby Signing Time! series are wonderful. My daughter has a remarkable vocabulary for a 21 month old and I have to credit her favorite program with helping to improve our verbal communications. The series has helped her to speak wonderfully and not only say words but to understand them as well.

We don't allow a great deal of TV programming but the Signing Time! series is soothing when she is sick, entertainig on rainy days, and educational. If I have to turn something on, Signing Time! is a good choice.

The particular volume is extremely helpful for daily activities. Having a 5 year old this video has helped us learn many signs that as parents we say alot! Knowing signs for the mundane can be less mundane and often times fun. Signs taught range from getting up and brushing/flossing teeth, to going to bed and everything in between. The songs are fun and my daughter's favorite is Imagination. A suberb video for families wanting to learn American Sign language. We highly recommend them!

5.0 out of 5 stars Educational Fun!, June 27, 2007

One of our family favorites, and not just because my youngest son is in this, signing "Good Night" after Rachel shows the sign! This is a great DVD that introduces the ASL vocabulary for day to day things like 'Good Morning', getting dressed, brushing teeth (and flossing) as well as many other ideas such as pretending, cleaning up, and bed time. My son has Down syndrome and verbal apraxia, and when he has trouble saying the words 'shirt' and 'shorts', he can sign them along with saying them to help clarify his choices.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome video, April 14, 2007

One of my friends recently introduced me and my son to the Signing Time videos. Her daughter is 14 months and knows over 100 signs from watching these videos for the past few months. My 18 month old hearing son and I both love these videos too! We've been signing a bit with him since he was 8 months with signs I'd learned long ago. He was quickly outgrowing the signs that we knew so we were looking for something more so we could all learn more. We tried a couple of other signing videos and they were OK, but the Signing Time and Baby Signing Time videos are captivating and fun, for him AND for me! They are well organized with a great, quick paced mix of humans, animation, singing, speaking and signing. I like how each song at the end of a segment is like a review for the words learned in that segment. This video - My Day - is as good as all of the other Signing Time videos I've watched. My son is fascinated with the daily things they do on the video anyway, especially brushing teeth and hair! My son usually picks up a few signs from each video the first time watching them, and it's been wonderful to be able to understand him when he wants something! I highly recommend these videos to everyone - they're the best I've seen!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Magic Cure, September 4, 2011
This review is from: Signing Time! Volume 10: My Day (DVD)
I'm not a fan of letting my 16 month old watch television, but I happened upon this DVD at the local library in an effort to expand his signing vocabulary. What a fabulous video! The songs are upbeat and catchy, the ASL education is clear (my son picked up three new signs after viewing the DVD only three times) and he absolutely loves to watch it. It's nice to have an educational video I can pop in when needed, and the songs and corresponding signs are simple enough that I can sing them with him on my own. The "Imagination" song saved my sanity in the pediatrician's waiting room!

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST !!!!!!! WORTH EVERY CENT, January 31, 2011

This review is from: Signing Time! Volume 10: My Day (DVD)
ABSOLUTELY THE BEST !!!!

Learn signing....it helps so much and it is great for brain development and communication b4 they can speak

put on the subtitles and learn letters and reading as well

the really young babes learn to talk and sign....convenient when they need to communicate but can not yet say the words!!! Especially when sick or hurt..no more Guess whats wrong ?? to make you even more nervous !! Gotta love signing then !

But they do learn to speak from this as well ..yAY!!!

Costly if you buy all at once so buy a few at a time Start with #1 and go on from there.
I read the signs that each DVD teaches and go from there with signs I want him to know first, not always in order
Amazon gives a great description of each DVD

I have the whole DVD set but only one book and 3 sets of Flash cards......like them but do not use as much as i thought I would

You learn with child so YOU can be the 'flash card" and they can tell you what you just signed or at a pre-talking age you say the word you want them to sign and they sign it.

Clap and shout 'YES!" affirms them and makes them want to keep on learning....do it your way of course, mine is just our way of affirming that he responds to."good job' works as well I'm sure

Keeps interest, real kids, Rachel, cartoon characters,Rachel singing songs that stick in your head (NOOOOOO) but stick in little ones heads as well and ...iT JUST WORKS !!!! And magnificently so !!!

I have never seen him not enamored by this series

Great for older kids as well

as I said you learn the signing , reading , speaking etc

but once the English is known
uSE SPANISH version and you know basic words in Spanish !!!
Don't forget the subtitles, very helpful!!

if you go to buy entire set SEARCH on eBay there is a site that sells at half price Just keep on looking Usually the price is $189.00 I believe for first half which is over 10 dVDS plus
Search Amazon as well as they may sell on both
If I had the name Id share

I hope I have helped !! This is the best I have seen and teaches soo many extras (like Spanish and reading when subtitles are used as well as talking for younger ones)
