Book Description

Ken Lowery is a man at odds with his life. He hates his job, is disappointed in his marriage, and feels resigned to leading a mundane existence.

That all changes when his wife brings home a rambunctious Black Labrador puppy named Silas, who forges a remarkable connection with Ken and begins to heal his inner turmoil. When some neighborhood children start to go missing, he takes it upon himself to protect those around him and is thrust into a surreal world where monsters roam.  Not everything is what it seems to be, he soon discovers, including his new best friend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bliss July 14, 2011
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I accidentally downloaded this book, a mishap with Kindle functionality (I had intended to download only the sample, but figuring that a $2.99 charge probably wouldn't really break the bank, decided to go with it). Though it took me time to pen a review, it wasn't for lack of trying. This is a breathtakingly well-crafted, beautifully written novel, an amalgamation of historical-sci-fi-horror-fantasy-supernatural-spirituality that traverses the darkest and most exquisite depths of the human spirit. For anyone who's ever felt a connection to another creature; anyone who's loved, longed or lost; anyone who's ever taken a long, hard look in the mirror and said, "Who the hell have I become?"; this is for you. I read much and often, and can honestly say this is one of the most incredible books I have had the privilege of reading in years. I wept, guffawed (yes, guffawed), experienced a captivating prism of emotions ranging from pure elation to absolute loathing, and finally finished the damn thing with a sense of harmony usually so out of reach in the progression through daily monotony. While many reviewers regard books as "un-put-downable," this was quite the opposite; I found myself intentionally lengthening the process in order to prolong my enjoyment. In short, I didn't want it to end. I beg of you: please, please, PLEASE read this book. Without a doubt, it was the best thing I've done for myself in years.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT READ!!! June 8, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This being only the second time I have written a review please bear with me. I will say that this book definitely took me through a realm of emotions. It took many twists and turns some of which I suspected may be coming and others that caught me off guard, which in my opinion was one of the things that made this such a great read. It was told in such a way that I was not anxious for it to end, on the contrary I kept thinking to myself..."ok, where is he heading here because there could be so many possibilities". I have to say though, after finishing the book in such a short time (would have been shorter however kids, husband and other such distractions prevented me from burying myself in the book), I was exhilarated to read his post book piece. That touched me as much as the book itself. Maybe because my do means as much to me as well, and that is all I will say on that :-) I will put this in here, I would love to know if anyone thinks the same thing I did about JT.

There is enough about the book in the description so I will not write about that, I am a firm believer that my feeling on what I read is whats important here, you will learn what the book is about when you read it yourself. I HIGHLY recommend this book!!! Read, READ, read this book!!!! You will NOT be disappointed at all!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Man and His Dog with a Twist June 7, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I started out thinking this was a book about a man and his dog, and it turned into something so totally different from what I thought or typically read. That being said, I really loved the book. I'm not much into fantasy/science fiction - but it was such an absorbing, well written story, I kept resenting all the interruptions in my life that were keeping me from reading. If you are a fan of Lou Aronica's "Blue", you will completely love this book.

A well told story with action and mystery that works. I like a little other worldly intrigue in my stories and Silas had that also. Great dog story!

1.0 out of 5 stars Looked good, but apparently dissappeared in cloud
Email came- book didn't. I shall not hurry to order paid books. Apparently the Kindle division of Amazon is less honest than the rest of the company.

More About the Author

Robert Duperre is a truly normal man. Really, he is. He lives in Connecticut and frequents his dungeon, where the weird images in his head eventually make it down the pathways through his arms, out of his fingers, and into the keyboard. The hours of isolation can sometimes play games with his sanity, but that's okay, because as many people say, he wasn't very sane in the first place. At least that's according to the artist Jessica Torrant, his beautiful and alluring wife.

Robert writes a combination of horror, science fiction, and fantasy, and is the author of five novels as well as contributor/editor of 2 short story collections.
