On Silence: 30 Days to a Powerful Spiritual Practice,
By "docbeverly" (San Miguel de Allende, Mexico) - See all my reviews
This review is from: On Silence: 30 Days to a Powerful Spiritual Practice (Paperback)
From the first words in the introduction that say "this book is about one of the greatest of all spiritual practices - the simple observance of silence" to the last quote by William Shakespeare, "the rest is silence", Joseph Dispenza has given us a great gift. He describes a very powerful and ancient spiritual practice with simplicity and beauty. It's almost as if, when reading the book, I became more "silent" inside. His words invoke silence, his thoughts stir the memories of silence, and he gives the methods to achieve silence with such grace that it's easy to imagine that this could become a lifelong practice. Thank you, Joseph, for your wisdom and direction. And, also for sharing the depth of your own personal experiences during your one year of silence. Bravo!

Brings new depth to your spiritual practice,
By
This review is from: On Silence: 30 Days to a Powerful Spiritual Practice (Paperback)
As a spiritual seeker, I have meditated for many years. But, I don't think I really "understood" the power and purpose of silence until I encountered this book. It gave me new insight and practical ways to grow and deepen my practice. Like all of Joseph Dispenza's books, 'On Silence' is beautiful in its simplicity. If you haven't encountered this author before (see 'The Way of the Traveler') you should! He has a wonderfully poetic writing style that's inspirational and a sheer pleasure to read.

Slim Book, Big Wisdom,
By
This review is from: On Silence: 30 Days to a Powerful Spiritual Practice (Paperback)
When this book arrived in the mail, the first thing I saw was that it was so slim! Something else: many of the pages are blank, left open for the reader to journal in.
But as I delved into the book, something opened up inside me. I decided to "do" the program Dispenza suggests, and really got into it. The program is basically the practice of silence, modeled after the silence practiced by monks from many spiritual traditions (Dispenza is a former monk). This is a very wise book. I kept underlining passages and going back to them. It's worth every penny of the price -- but you have to do the program to get the benefits.

Short book - More Like A Diary,
By
This review is from: On Silence: 30 Days to a Powerful Spiritual Practice (Paperback)
I was expecting more text and information in this book, it has some great info but not alot. This book is more like a diary for your meditation. Mr. Dispenza has a wealth of knowledge as seen on "What the Bleep Do We Know" DVD and I thought this book would have had more information in it. He is in the process of releasing a new book soon, maybe Sept. or Oct. 2006. I am waiting for that, I'm sure it will be exactly what we are looking for!
