I LOVE THIS SINGLE!,
By Emma's Mom (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Silence (Audio CD)
I still remember the first time I heard "Silence". I was at the movies, watching a premier for "Brokedown Palace" and in the background I heard her voice. That beautiful, angelic voice that I knew so well...Sarah's. I decided then and there that I was going to buy the soundtrack once it became available. Imagine my suprise when standing at the record store, scanning the back of the soundtrack, I could not find Sarah's name!! But that song HAD to be included! It was in the preview for crying out loud! Confused and terribly disapointed I decided to buy the CD anyways. So I put it in the cd changer in my car, drove off, and pushed play................then I heard it.......that sureal introduction.....the chanting.......the soul stiring beat.....but who in the heck is Delerium?? And why does their lead singer sound so much like Sarah Mclachlan? This song will forever be one of my ultimate favorites. I don't care if you're 12 or 82. I'm 32 and my 14 year old step-daughter loves it as much as I do (and you know you've accomplished something when your teenage daughter thinks your taste in music is cool). This is an absolute must for any fan of Sarahs, as well as anyone who has an ounce of musical taste.....you will not be disappointed!!

I have not met a person who didn't like these after they heard them. The remix has a dance beat to it, both are just incredible. In fact, the whole Karma CD is good. Its Delerium, its got Sarah McLachlan, what else is there to say...

Underrated Techno For the Masses,

"Silence" feat. Sarah McLaughlan was one of the best dancefloor grooves I'd heard in a long, LONG time, and this is one single I can't recommend enough. The production's suitably ambient, the chorus soaring, and the mood is definitely gothic in nature, but the treatment of the tune is handled beautifully. I put this on one night, and everybody was asking me where they could find it by the end of the night. THAT's the kind of word of mouth money can't buy.

Wonderful remix of Silence,

I, being a fan of both Delerium and Sarah, had to get this CD and was not disapointed. The Sanctuary Remix by Fade is almost as cool as the Rabbit in the Moon remix of Sarah's 'Possesion'. The forth track Duende, is good dance music, but bears little resemblence to the original song. You will still need to get the Delerium - Karma version of Silence as the 'album version' on this CD is about 2 minutes shorter. Recommend this CD if you like Techno-Dance/Rave music.

Best dance single of last year,
This review is from: Silence (Audio CD)
Being a big fan of Sarah McLachlan's before 'Silence', I had searched for and found this single on the Internet. However, I'd never managed to download it properly for some reason. After being released in Australia a long time before it was released over here, I had almost forgotten about it until I heard Sarah's voice on the radio and I knew that this had to be 'Silence'. Of course, I had to snap up the single as quickly as possible. The remixes are surprisingly good, the best one being the slow version that was used to great effect in the movie 'Brokedown Palace' (which is also excellent). The single got to Number 3 in the U.K. charts and I just hope that it sets up Sarah for more European success. Her crossing over to the dance genre is daring and has worked well, as collaborations with Delerium and William Orbit (on her recent remix album) are a testament to. If you liked this single, a mixture of dance and beautiful vocals, then look out for Delerium's duet with Leigh Nash, the lead singer of Sixpence None The Richer.

Silence...,

Well, I had to re-write this review a few weeks after I published it, because the CD I had wouldn't play anymore (probably cos' I played it too much). So I bought a new copy which I discovered happened to be the import, with Fade's uncut version of the (Sanctuary Mix). The Sanctuary Mixes, have a strong high-energy sort of trance going on...it summons the likes of Above & Beyond, Paul Oakenfold and Deepsky. The chorus is absolutely outstanding, it's also my favorite part of the song, her sedative vocals shimmer in perfect splendor along with the funky beats. This is also without doubt the best Sarah McLachlan remix to date!!!!. The Album Version, which was used for the movie ''Brokedown Palace'', is a slow chill-out and very mystical sounding song, also one of my personal favorites from both artists. Who knew that Delerium could make such a work of art, this song is undeniably what made them super-famous. Thanks to the fantastic collaborations with Sarah McLachlan. Don't be disappointed about the fact that the perhaps over-criticized remix by DJ Tiesto is not included here, believe me, that remix is nothing fantastic, and is one of Tiesto's worse mixes ever. But get this CD Single for the Sanctuary Mixes. Enjoy! |
