This book will certainly feed you spiritually! While originally published in a different time (the imprimatur is 1955), the writing speaks to you across the years. I wish we had more orthodox gifted writers like B. Baur in our midst.Dealing with topics as diverse as one's inner life to the Mass, perfection, holiness, sin and emotion, it gives you a lot to ponder.

The first time I read Fr. Baur book "In silence with God" I had the clear impression that I was reading the 20th century succesor of St. John of the Cross. The chapters about sin and purification of our emotions and first thoughts are in the same spiritual line of St, John of the Cross master pieces.I bought an used copy of the book, and the price was amazingly low and the condition of the book was as new. Benedict Baur presents a simple but comprehensive approach to the Christian life in this book. He fleshes out all the essentials including prayer, virtues, sin, the Mass. Each chapter is a long reflection on one of these topics pointing out pitfalls and making suggestions for one's improvement. As of the writing of this review this book seems to be out of print, but if you can somehow get your hands on it, I recommend it!
