“A world-class nail-biter.”—Lee Child

Praise for Silenced

"The evolution of Lucy Kincaid from former victim to instinctive and talented agent continues in Brennan’s new heart-stopping thriller. . .From first to last, this story grabs hold and never lets go."
RT Book Reviews (Top Pick)

"Brennan throws a lot of story lines into the air and juggles them like a master. The mystery proves to be both compelling and complex. . .[A] chilling and twisty romantic suspense gem."

Dear Reader:

Like most writers, I am an avid reader. I started light - Encyclopedia Brown, Trixie Belden, Nancy Drew - but by the time I was eleven, I'd discovered my mom's vast Agatha Christie and Ed McBain collections.

But two things happened on my way to becoming a mystery writer.

First, I discovered Stephen King.

As a thirteen-year-old book fanatic, I learned about page-turners early. I wrote Stephen King a fan letter after reading THE STAND and told him I wanted to be a writer when I grew up. He wrote back and told me: "If you want to be a writer, write." Which I took to mean, why wait until I grew up?

My problem? I never finished anything I started. As soon as I was well into the story and had figured out what was going to happen, I became bored and started a new project.

In high school, I became fascinated with true crime, and it wasn't until college that I started reading my mom's romance novels. They hadn't appealed to me as a teenager, but as a "mature" twenty-one year old, I found them entertaining.

Nora Roberts, Linda Howard, and others introduced me to contemporary novels that didn't involve murder, dismemberment, or deranged clowns living in the sewer.

Over the next decade, I built a career, married, had five kids, but never stopped reading--or writing.

I soon discovered a wonderful blend of suspense and romance with the romantic suspense novels of Tami Hoag, Kay Hooper and Lisa Gardner, and knew exactly what I wanted to write. I could take my mystery reader background, my fascination with true crime, and my desire for a happily ever after, and blend it into a romantic thriller.

I love romance because I want a happy ending. True love should win over adversity, if the hero and heroine are worthy. They need to earn it, because nothing achieved easily is truly appreciated. But I also love intense thrills and chills because they are physical--fear causes the entire body to react, heart pounding, head thumping, hands shaking.

DEAD HEAT, a Lucy Kincaid Thriller, is available now. Coming in July is the next Moreno & Hart Mystery, HIT AND RUN, co-written with Laura Griffin. Spring 2015 will have COMPULSION, the second book in the Max Revere series.

Thank you to all my readers. I appreciate your feedback and enthusiasm.

~ Allison Brennan

Seven years ago as a high school senior Lucy Kincaid met a seemingly nice man on-line. When they finally met in person, he proved to be a psychopath. He attacked her, but she survived while her molester died (see Fear No Evil). Since her assault, her ambition has been to become an undercover FBI agent exposing cyber predators. Her dream is about to become true as she has been accepted to attend the FBI Academy.

As she waits for the training to begin, Lucy works with her mentor agent Noah Armstrong; investigating the murder of Wendy James a high-priced call girl linked to Congressman Crowley. Lucy's analysis of the murder scene proves correct, but only angers Noah's boss, Supervisory Special Agent Matt Slater who does not want an untrained wannabe in the field. Assigned to a different case, Lucy concludes her investigation of the murders of several call girls and a social worker is linked to the James homicide. With her private investigator boyfriend Seth Rogan helping her, Lucy seeks the connection, Ivy, before the killers murder her too.

The latest Kincaid-Rogan investigation (see Love Me to Death) is an action-packed thriller from the moment the heroine alienates Slater and never slows down until the final confrontation. Lucy has come a long way since her assault as she has strong instincts, but still lacks confidence about her skills that Slater plays on to demoralize her as he thinks she is unworthy. Readers will enjoy Silenced as Lucy struggles to ignore her doubt and follow her gut.

I've been a fan of Allison Brennan's books since her vewry first series was released. I'm an even bigger fan now. This book did not disappoint in any way! I love the interaction of the main couple, Lucy and Sean. They are 2 individuals with secrets but with each and every book, more and more of their back story comes to light. I wish Allison could write faster, but with 5 kids at home....I'm fortunate that she can write at all! And that, my friends, makes me very happy!

I have read all of Ms. Brennan's books and so far I have not been disappointed. Her latest "Silenced" is just as good. It follows Lucy Kincaid of the Kincaid family (you must read her older books to stories about Lucy's brothers!). Lucy is a great heroine. You really feel for her because she was a victim herself in the past. Lucy is a very believable character. I love all the supporting characters as well. The dialogue is great and the story flows perfectly. There is a touch of romance involved, but the book is mostly suspense with murder, this book, you will enjoy it! I finished it quickly because I could not put it down. I am now waiting (im)patiently for the next book in the Lucy Kincaid series!

I LOVE the Lucy Kincaid series. We have seen her grow & develop as a person & agent in training. I love her relationship with Sean her PI boyfriend. This book was a very quick read because I couldn't wait to get to the end & find out why everything was happening & how it would end. Could not put it down!! Each book in the series gets better & better. Hight recommend this book & this series. I love how the writer has Lucy questioning herself after a slip & her loyality to those she love.

Lucy Kincaid is working as an analyst in the FBI office tracking online sex predators. In three weeks she'll attend the FBI Academy. Noah Armstrong, her training agent, asked her to join him in the field as an analyst and not as a field agent. The FBI's field agent offices is understaffed.

On the front page article, Congressman Alan Crowley was discovered as having an affair with Wendy James, a secretary for a powerful DC lobbying firm. Wendy was jogging in the park when she was murdered. The FBI took over the murder case. When Wendy first interviewed with the FBI related to the Congressman's affair, she had contradicted herself, then requested counsel be present. Wendy had appointment with the FBI for a interview when she was murdered.

The DC Metro police lacked manpower and requested assistance from the FBI in a new murder case. FBI Agent Noah Armstrong and Lucy Kincaid went to the crime scene at a sleazy motel. The victim, a female hooker, was murdered with the same modus operandi as had Wendy James. Lucy overstepped her bounds when she told DC detective Reid that the FBI could handle this case. Lucy thinks there is a connection between the two murders and a serial killer targeting prostitutes.

Senator Jonathon Paxton hired Lucy's boyfriend, Sean Rogan, to investigate who is blackmailing him. If word of this gets out, Lucy will lose her job as an FBI agent and Senator Paxton would go to jail.

Agent Armstrong recommended Lucy for the FBI academy, but is now having second thought about his recommendation. At several crime scenes, Lucy appeared to be having flashbacks from when she was held hostage and raped.

A great Lucy Kincaid series.

Stalked next book in the series due out October 30, 2012. Lucy Kincaid new trainee at the FBI Academy in Quantico.
