The pinnacle of Caifanes,
By Guanacan (long beach) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Silencio (Audio CD)
This is undoubtedly one of the best Spanish rock albums released in th 90s, if not in history. Saul Hernandez's lyrics and Alejandro Markovich's guitar work is masterful. It's a shame that only four albums were produced under the name Caifanes.
Probably I'm sounding a bit biased but anyone who likes good music should buy this CD. All of their tracks are worth listening to. There's not a lot of LP's who can claim that. Let's start top to bottom: 1-"Metamorfeame" catches the Grunge spirit that was going on in the early 90s. 2-"Nubes" is the best track of the album; you never get tired of listening to it; Markovich's guitar can sing as well. 3-"Piedra" is very cool to listen to, especially with the Norteno loop at the end. 4-"Tortuga" slows things down but it's worth listening to as well. 5-"Nos vamos juntos" is an epic five-minute plus song that will surely make you replay it. 6-"No dejes que" is the other really really great song here; Markovich's solo guitar here is as good as the one in Nubes. 7-"Hasta morir" is a slow song and it's still considered one of the best tracks. 8-"Debajo de tu piel" slowly brings things back to speed. 9-"Estas dormida" is an easy-to-listen song whereas 10-"Miercoles de ceniza" is harder and darker. The last part of the album gets more eclectic with 11-"El comunicador", 12-"Para que no digas" which is highlighted by Sabo's bass and 13-"Vamos a hacer un silencio" which is beautifully composed by Diego's sinthesizers The finale of a wonderful album is a bonus track "Mariquita", an old Mexican folk song.

Caifanes, El Silencio,
By Luzbel Urdapilleta (México) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Silencio (Audio CD)

This one is one of the best Caifanes/Jaguares cds, along with Bajo el azul de tu misterio and El diablito. I bought this just a few weeks ago, and it is still amaizing! You have great rock songs such as "Miercolenz de ceniza" "El comunicador" and "Nos vamos juntos". And softer songs such as "Debajo el tu piel" and "Estas Dormida". This one is MUCH better then their new album, which I find some of disappointing(its still good but not as good as this). The last song is a beautifull latin ballad, which is very untypicially for them to do. You english rock lovers should check out Caifanes and other rock en espanol bands, they will make you wonder why u didnt bought spanish rock since the day it was born -:)

I don't speak spanish, so I can't comment on the lyrics, but this music speaks to me in another way. This is one of the greatest rock albums ever produced, and I don't think they are copying U2, the Cure or anyone else. It's too bad there isn't a market for non-english music in the U.S., because if there was this album would have been huge.

El Silencio de los Caifanes,
By Sergio "Monrock" (Puebla, Mex) - See all my reviews

By MTV (México) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Silencio (Audio CD)

Otro Gran Disco Por Una Gran Banda/Another Great Album by a Great Band,

This review is from: Silencio (Audio CD)
In my opinion this is the second best album by Caifanes after El Diablito. This albums has the same sensibility present in El Diablito but with a more mature sound. It is clear that Caifanes' sound and creativity continued to evolve. El Silencio is an album with hard rock songs like Nos Vamos Juntos and No Dejes Que; fun songs like Nubes y Para Que No Digas Que No Pienso en Ti; mysterious songs like Miercoles de Cenizas and songs, like Vamos a Hacer un Silencio, full of spirituality. This last song is one of the best in Caifanes' career and highly recommended because it perfectly captures the poetry, philosophy and musical talent behind this great band. El Silencio is probably the highest point in the life of this band. You will enjoy this album even if your Spanish is not very fluent.

Yet the best from Caifanes.,
By Camilo Rueda Lopez (San Sebastian de Los Reyes, MADRID Spain) - See all my reviews

This one will remain ever as the best album out from the (brief) discography of a band which sometimes is wrongly named Mexico's Soda Stereo, or Mexico's U2. Neither they sound much like Soda Stereo or U2 really...
Good compositions, interesting lyrics, experimental sounds, local mexican influences, progressive rock and a couple happy/optimistic gems made this album the Caifanes' best, and yet even better than any of Jaguares' releases (Saul Hernandez follow up project). Highly recommended if someone want to listen what Caifanes (perhaps the best mexican rock band ever) is all about as it contains all of their music ranges and moods, just in case you don't know them yet. |
