The Silent Brotherhood,
By Cwn_Annwn (Copenhagen, Denmark) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Silent Brotherhood: The Chilling Inside Story of America's Violent, Anti-Government Militia Movement (Paperback)
This is a "true crime" style account of Bob Matthews and The Order. It was a lot more fair and impartial than I expected. Not perfect by any stretch of the imagination (and neither was The Order themselves) but even members of The Order have said it is more or less accurate except for minor details and the dialogue that the authors threw in. This is still a must read book if for no other reason its the best book about Bob Matthews and The Order that has been put out and is written in a way that keeps you interested the whole way through. Whether you consider them terrorists or freedom fighters you will probably get something out of this book.

Good reading, but a little misleading,

This review is from: The Silent Brotherhood: The Chilling Inside Story of America's Violent, Anti-Government Militia Movement (Paperback)
"The Silent Brotherhood" is a well-researched and in-depth look at one of the most infamous domestic terrorist groups, The Order. It illustrates how alarmingly normal people can harbor deep and unrelenting passions against society. You come a way with a sense of respect for both the FBI agents, who put a tremendous amount of effort into the case, and another strange sense of respect for Robert Jay Matthews, who becomes a sort of modern-day tragic hero. In the background, you have the other personalities of the far-right, who do provide quite the tapestry of characters. I do fault the book on several fronts. One, I noticed a large number of typing errors into the end of the text. Two, since this was a second release, there should have been some updates on the other players. Third, the authors smear the entire militia movement with a broad brush. Most militias are nothing like the Order

A good resource for white nationalists,

This review is from: The Silent Brotherhood: The Chilling Inside Story of America's Violent, Anti-Government Militia Movement (Paperback)
In general this book is respectfull of Bob Mathews and his companions. At times it portrays him as manipulative, and that is a shame since Bob Mathews was a hero. However, the authors are remarkably fair to our movement, and the authors must have worked very hard on research. White nationalists can benefit from reading this book, because it shows us how hard it is to start a revolution, which is why we are focussing on propaganda today. Hopefully this book will help preserve the memory of Bob Mathews and his companions, many of whom are still in prison. We will write a more heroic account of them when the separate white nation is formed, but for now this book is the closest we will get to a fair treatment.

Flynn and Gerhardt provide decent narrative and expository from both personal interviews (although they both failed to interview the broadest members of the Silent Brotherhood) and personal eyewittness accounts to bring you, the reader, at least a 15% portrayal of the actual story, while being 85% accurate in the telling.
Let the reader bear the burden of distilling the facts and lies of the parties involved; but none will come away from this book without feeling deep inside, a genuine appreciation of the nobility and courage of the men who comprise the modern day 'true believers' of racial tribalism, family, national survival, and the mystical interpolation of Blood. Read this to your children.

A FAILED WAR TO SAVE THE WHITE RACE,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Silent Brotherhood: The Chilling Inside Story of America's Violent, Anti-Government Militia Movement (Paperback)
This book is a must-read for ALL racially aware White people. It documents, in great detail and with an irresistably page-turning narrative, the heroic efforts of Robert Jay Mathews and the Bruder Schweigen to start a war to preserve our people and a future for White children, as well as the dastardly acts of betrayal that ultimately led to his execution by immolation at the hands of "our" government. If you are a skinhead or just racially aware White person, this book will elucidate the acts of supreme courage and self sacrifice that themselves define those ideals for which we fight.

Excellent read. The authors do a great job of reporting the facts surrounding Robert Matthews and those ill-fated souls around him.

A Good Read, But...,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Silent Brotherhood: Inside America's Racist Underground (Hardcover)
"The Silent Brotherhood" is certainly a good read, and is also extremely well-researched, but "Brotherhood of Murder" by Thomas Martinez is even better, as it is a firsthand account. Still, Flynn & Gerhardt present the facts in a straightforward, objective manner. Definitely recommended.

If you are a skinhead and think you know what it means to be one,or what this "movement" is all about. You must have read this book, if you haven't I suggest you do so you can get an idea about what it means to be a soldier in this war against ZOG!! This book tells the story of how Bob Matthews and the the rest of the Order took it straight to the Jew. A MUST READ FOR ANY WHITE RACIALIST

An informative book,

This review is from: The Silent Brotherhood: Inside America's Racist Underground (Hardcover)
The co-authors (Flynn and Gerhardt) are reporters in the Denver area, where the murder of Alan Berg took place at the hands of the subjects of the book. The book is reported factually, but gives no glory to Matthews and his band of followers. Morris Dees, head of the Southern Poverty Law Center and bitter enemy of racism in all its forms, had this to say about the book, "The Silent Brotherhood is a valuable contribution to our understanding of the Order and others like them." The book accomplishes this by tracing the development of the Order, a far right extremist group that organized itself and carried out armed robberies to fund its terrorist activities. The book chronicles the lives of the Order's most prominent members as well. The book culminates in a recounting of the events near Seattle where Matthews, the leader of the group, was tracked by authorities and ulitmately met his end.
