Book Description

November 21, 2008
A Silent Cry takes you on a long journey of how one woman went from tragedy to triumph. Natasha Gooch road to destiny was a poignant tale following the adversity, trials and tribulations that she had to endure at a young age. By the age of twenty-one, Natasha had been molested, experienced the loss of both parents and a grandmother, became addicted to relations with men, dropped out of school, got herself connected with a young man who she thought loved her while she believed in her heart that he was a gift sent by God designed just for her. Natasha eventually allowed this young man to move her away from family and out of the state at the tender age of seventeen. Within a matter of time, he physically and emotionally abused her. With all the odds stacked against her--the things she went through had set her up to fail and to become another statistic, but by the grace of God, her life did not turn out that way. What the enemy thought was meant for bad, God turned it around for the good. Prayer, fasting, and worship were the three factors in Natasha's life that helped through her hardships. She used all the negative things she went through in her life to catapult her into living a successful and victorious life. Natasha is a ambassador of the Lord carrying a message of hope, redemption, and transparency. She hopes to serve as an inspiration to those who may read this book. To whoever may need words of encouragement during difficult times? "With God all things are possible, and nothing is too hard to achieve."

5.0 out of 5 stars Against all odds, November 9, 2009
This review is from: A Silent Cry (Paperback)
A Silent Cry tells the story of how a young woman experienced so much at a young age and even though people may have given up on her God still had a plan for her and pulled her through every situation. This story is an awesome example of how awesome God is and how he still has control even when we feel we may have lost hope. I recommend this book to anyone who may be going through rough times it is encouragement to see that if this young woman can perservere through such adversity then so can we. Im looking forward to what else Natasha Gooch has to offer. A very inspiring read!

3.0 out of 5 stars Creating a Family Out of Strangers- Trying to Make Anything Do, July 19, 2009
This review is from: A Silent Cry (Paperback)
"A Silent Cry" is the story of the life of a child that lost her mother, father, and grandmother at an early age. Since her parents never married, it is also about the void that exists because there is no father figure in her life and the impact that she is left to create a reality that will allow her to adapt to the forces that are challenging her.

The story line would be most appealing to an adolescent as there are attempts to explain spiritually, the mistakes made and the grounding found in the word of God. The problem with that is the affiliation with Church was so insignificantly addressed that it is hard to believe that the foundation was laid to have this kind of understanding at the end. Therefore, it is about a child making poor decisions and exercising poor judgment with little guidance except what she thinks is right, which is guided by a twisted sense of family and friendship.

"A Silent Cry" was interesting but you could tell early that the main character had problems that she had not identified. Part of it is the uncertainty that is felt when the sole parent dies and the responsibility of the remaining family is to figure out how to provide care for the children of the deceased so that the children will not have to go into foster care. There is no readiness for such events, but when the family structure is already weak, it becomes an almost insurmountable task. No marriages existed as a model for the child to follow and the ones that she "borrowed" were her own fantasizing of life, which is common to youth. Some of the decisions that are made are beyond the understanding of a child but the implications of those decisions impact the child directly. As is true in life, although there are two children, they respond differently to their circumstances.

This book was riveted with grammatical errors that included missing words, wrong words such as since for sense, and tense errors. These are usually caught in editing. I found the further into the book the story developed, the frequency of these errors appeared. It was distracting.
