I have looked a lot for books in Brazil about Deaf Children and bought two, but they were for teachers not paratens. This one is very good for parents of deaf children. Although I will not use all of the chapters since the reality in Brazil is different from US, but the overview is very good.

Paul Ogden does an amazing job at covering all aspects of raising a deaf child. I felt as if someone was reading my mind and understood what I was going through. It was well written and very thorough. I've read many a books after finding out my daughter was hard of hearing. This book is at the top of my list.

The book was in excellent condition and it looked like I bought it at a bookstore. I got all that I asked for plus some extra material. The sender gave me a brochure that she got from a Deaf Camp. It was a very interesting read.

This is a PHENOMINAL resource for any parent who has just discovered that their child is deaf and doesn't know where to turn. Paul Ogden does a wonderful job of introducing the many options that are available for raising deaf children, as well as helping parents to deal with the emotional aspect of having a child that is deaf. The Silent Garden is a must read for parents of deaf children as well as for those who work in Deaf education, counseling or in any related field of study. |
