A Voice for the Silent Generation,
By Bob Pine (Denver, CO) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Silent Generation (MP3 Download)
Well I stumbled upon this group on Pandora...I can't say how lucky of a find it was. The songs offer a wide range of variety not only in style, but in complexity as well. Songs range from the simple "Chicago 1929" to the driving "Catch Me Jumping." Each is powerful and moving in it's own way. From the hand clapping "Jersey Kid" (a song about a murderer getting the electric chair) to the subduing and haunting, "Silent Generation," the album will have you mezmorized. The album contains characters from a World War One soldier with a "bullet lodged in his brain," to a farm boy being sucked up in a tornado in Kansas, to a European opera singer. The album may sound horribly depressing from my description (it is about the Great Depression) but be warned, you may find yourself clapping and singing along to these musical tales within the first listen. The "Silent Generation" is an album that you'll be able to listen to over and over and it'll still feel like your getting something new out of it each time.

This music was unexpectedly charming, interesting and calming. I liked it very much and have already downloaded it to my MP3.
