3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good...tad 'choppy', January 25, 2008

Pretty good plot/worth reading. Geoff Archer is a retired (medical reasons) police detective who was the lead dectective in a serial rapist case. Archer decided that the media wouldn't get any info to air on tv, which enraged the rapist. The rapist went after Archer's wife in retribution. She committed suicide after the rape, but shot him before taking her own life when he tried to stop her. She shot his right hand, destroying tendons necessary to be able to shoot, which resulted in his retiring. He opens a shooting range in his basement of his victorian house (not kidding...a shooting range in his house) and that's where he meets Resa. Resa is trying to learn how to shoot and wants him to help her. Resa's sister was one of the rapist's victims and she wants to protect herself as well as have him get caught. Resa's the witness who saw him leaving her apt complex when her sister was raped. Archer doesn't want to protect Resa but dept budget has no money for police protection, so he reluctantly agrees to protect her.

Rapist now wants to get Resa AND Archer and goes after them at Arche's house. Archer wants Resa but doesn't want to want Resa, which makes him grumpy. He gets Resa and the next morning acts horrible towards her, so she goes into protective custody; rapist follows her and leaves a voice mail while in protective custody which enrages Archer. he busts into the hotel to take Resa back to his house cause he can protect her better. Rapist goes after both at Archers.

Interesting jacket cover...Archer holding a hand gun IN HIS RIGHT HAND and the gun has a SILENCER on it. Just thought I'd point that out.

4.0 out of 5 stars LOOK AT THOSE EYES - THIS GUY MEANS BUSINESS!, July 16, 2008

(REAL NAME)
OOPS! GUN IS IN HIS LEFT HAND AND BEING HELD BY HIS RIGHT! LOVE THAT FACE.

Geoffrey Archer is the former Nashville police detective who was working the rapist case - until it proved to more than 2 - now they have a serial rapist floating around lose.

After his wife committed suicide, Archer was more determined to catch the "Lock" rapist. And he sure wasn't about to teach another female how to shoot a gun. With his biggest problem, that he couldn't even hold a gun in his right hand to shoot.

Theresa Wade wants to learn to shoot the glock she bought after her sister, Celia was raped. She heard about Archer and his shooting range and wanted to meet him. She would arrive at about 8:00 p.m. and leave at 10:15 p.m. even though the range closed at 10:00 p.m. Finally she flushed Archer out of his office.

Clint Banes took over as head detective on the "Lock" case after Archer was wounded and retired. He is being called numerous times as the rapist starts stalking Resa - Archer is shocked when Resa calls him first and then 911 - Clint shows up promptly and then finds out that Archer was also contacted by the rapist. Banes just doesn't have the men to put a detail on Resa so that Archer finally offers to take her home with him.

Frank Berry - Archer's day manager of the gun range is finally caught up in the rapist's plans to get at Resa and Archer.

The "Lock" Rapist - uses leaving a lock of hair from the previous victim at the next crime as his signature. He is a bit of a fruitcake! His momma made him believe that making a name for himself was the ultimate goal.

And what is it with these wimpy females that can't stand handling a gun? Especially if they want to protect themselves. Handling a gun is a challenge, expecially if you get good at it. Just show the gun proper respect for its killing capacity.

Worthy read - excellent cover - poor old Archer had to take a lot of bruising for his troubles. Of course, he blew the morning after.

Recommended --m -- enjoy another wounded warrior story.
