Konami announced in its pre-E3 press briefing video, to the excitement of many fans around the world, two new entries in to the Silent Hill universe. Details are starting to surface regarding these new titles and we thought you might like to be in the know.

The first bit of info that we would like to share with you is that the Silent Hill HD Collection, which will contain HD remakes of Silent Hill 2 & 3, will be a PlayStation exclusive. Previously announced HD collections of Metal Gear Solid and Zone of Enders will be released by Konami on both the Xbox 360 and the PS3, but it seems that that is not in the cards for the Silent Hill Collection. However, on the bright side, it has been clarified that the re-release of the two classic Silent Hill titles will include brand new voice acting and trophy support when released this fall.

The second point we want to shed a bit more light upon is the multiplayer aspect of the PS Vita specific which Silent Hill: Book of Memories, another new title in the franchise that Konami announced just a few days ago. There was alot of concern in the community upon hearing this announcement as to what multiplayer would look like in a Silent Hill game. Well, according to a Konami press release, it appears that the mutiplayer experience will be a co-op one, not competitive. The press release doesn't specifically exclude competitive multiplayer, but the wording sure would suggest otherwise. Here is a quote from the press release:

"Silent Hill: Book of Memories will also feature the very first multiplayer experience for the franchise. Players will be able to survive the horrific landscapes of Silent Hill with friends in a haunting co-op experience."

With the new information at hand, any thoughts on the upcoming titles in this prolific franchise?

I am so unbelievably stoked to play a re-up of this! I'm okay with the recasting, but I really, really hope they keep the original Silent Hill 2 soundtrack.

With all this HD re-releasing, do you think they may finally cave & give us a revamped version of FF VII too? 'Cause that would just make my life complete.

Considering "HD re-releases" refer mainly to games PS2/Xbox etc, and the fact that it's insanely difficult to add more detail to a games on the graphical level of FF7, no.
Unless we're talking a full-scale remake of FF7, but, I don't see why you would want to remake a FF game at all. 'Sides, revamped releases of games means less appreciation and more frustration on figuring things out, usually.
