I am a huge silent hill fan. I have played nearly every game in the series (1-downpour, missing Homecoming) and this game was a major disappointment. Right up there with Shattered memories. The only reason it is slightly higher than Shattered Memories in my book is because you can actually fight enemies. This game had major lag and even froze up on me more than once. I beat the game in just a few hours and was shocked to find how little was actually in it. Yeah, the enemies were scary but there were only 3 different ones. Also, one boss battle?? really? what is this, silent hill 4? Nevermind the fact your character is probably the same exact model as Henry Townshend (Silent Hill 4's main character) except with a scar. Overall this game had a few good things but mostly was a huge disappointment, kind of sad i wasted my money on it.

I'm a die hard fan of Silent Hill series. I like everything about it: games, movies, pictures, books, etc.
This particular one I've bought to test out 3D stereoscopic TV that I've had. I've heard too many really bad reviews about this particular title.
And, you know, they were right, game freezes near the very beginning making it unplayable.
It's a shame to release a game that you can not even play for an hour.

Couldn't even play it. Tried two different copies, plus a patch download. Froze in the same spot no matter how many times I re-installed it. Chalk it up to crappy software

I figured that since i was not an original "Silent Hill" 1, 2, or 3 fanatic i wouldn't have all those high-falutin' hopes that the franchise would return to its allegedly awesome beginnings. I should have known better.
I'm one of the minority of people who thought "The Room" was the most terrifyingly awesome installation into the series. I didn't like either of the movies (though revelations was better than the first one by a long shot). I owned the one on PSP which was so unremarkable i cant remember its name. Im just getting more and more frustrated with the whole thing, and as they will not release "The Room" on the playstation network i think i'm just done with silent hill.

My love of the Silent Hill series began years ago, in the dark ages of the 90s with the first American release. I loved Harry. I rooted for him. I wanted him to find Cheryl as badly as anyone could want a fictional character to find their demonic child. I was IN LOVE. Then James came along, and he was a dick, but he was a tortured dick and that made for a good story. Then Heather came along, all grown up and we shared a tearful goodbye to the grand-daddy survivor of SH...but then the logic started...wavering. This guy moves into an apartment and THAT'S why he's got to be tortured? A truck driver tries to save a little girl and that's why he's in the Otherworld? And don't even get me started on the plays-like-a-bad-fanfic drivel over in Shepherd's Glen.

Disappointment had weakened my love; mediocrity had put my fanatics on the critical list. Then this game came along, and I thought I would try a radical new treatment...I paid my $20 and sent Silent Hill: Downpour into the room to resuscitate my desires for survival horror. And do you know what SH:D did? It held a pillow over the face of my fanatics until they quit twitching and died a miserable death of BOREDOM.

This game...IS BORING. This game HAS NO PLOT. This game HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH SILENT HILL. If this game were a woman it would be a Kardashian: plastic and glossy and good only for debasing. That is what this game is. SAVE YOUR MONEY. SAVE YOUR TIME. Go play ANYTHING else. Even the Ambien-on-a-disk game 'Heavy Rain' is better than this piece of tripe.

Instead of thanking the fans of Silent Hill in their forever-long credits, Konami and all the other twats involved should have apologized for this Korn-filled crap...with SEPPUKU.

This game is just awful! I could most likely write a 5 page report on everything that Downpour does wrong but I'll make it short and bitter.

-Weak monster designs! "Oh no, some gothy looking dudes are here~ How spooky~ Oh hi random wheelchair guy."
-Otherworld sucks! This could have been done so well, you can see where it could have been good! But no, you have to hurry and run from some random void thing.
-Characters are dull! I think the last time I cared this little for characters was when I played Final Fantasy 13.
-Story goes all over the place! What idiot wrote this?! Might as well been the "great" mind that wrote Dead/Alive with as much sense as this junk does.
-Texture pop in and lag! This is 2012, why is this thing lagging more than any Silent Hill game ever did on the PS2?
And the biggest sin any Silent Hill game can make: Not scary!

I cannot understand why this game is getting okay reviews. There is nothing okay with the game. Well, it's better than Homecoming was, but that bar is so low that anything would be better.
