Hoffman takes us on a journey from African world beat to new age melodies that are timeless, yet fresh. The selection "Joy to Joy" lives up to it's name including some blissful giggling of a child in the background at one point. The instrumentation is full, but not crowded.

Hoffman's cover of "Open up your heart" has a mystical transcendence about it as does much of the album.

Almost all of the songs on this CD are without lyrics, however they seem to tell a story with intricate images through complex and gentle textures. It makes you want to close your eyes and drift away somewhere. That is why it may not be the best music for driving in your car, but it is great for traveling in your consciousness.

Listening to the different melodies in Silent Longing brought sweet feelings to my heart. It is wonderful music....rich and moving. It has become one of my favorite CD's. I never get tired of listening to it.

I.ve only listened to a few minutes of 3 tracks, and I know that this album will bring me many, many hours of joy, it is beautifully composed, and I just have to hear more.
