Fine book, odd title,

A very interesting book in the genre of s/f fantasy, informed by an understanding of literature from Beowulf through European legend and folklire to LeGuinn and Conan the Barbarian. If I have a complaint, it is that the book tries to cover too much territory in one volume--think Lord of the Rings in a non-trilogy. It is an auspicious debut by a fine talent.
