A wonderful family movie, May 22, 2010
This review is from: Silent Mouse: The True Story of Silent Night [VHS] (VHS Tape)
On Christmas Eve 1887, when the organ of the beautiful Catholic Church broke down, an enterprising young priest had to step into the breach with his simple guitar. He wrote a song called Silent Night, a song that quickly became a Christmas classic throughout the world. At least that's the official story...
In this wonderful movie, Lynn Redgrave (playing herself) narrates a fantastic story that tells the truth about Silent Night. It seems that tending the church organ was a small mouse by the name of Nony. When her charge gave up the ghost, she knew that she had to help out, so inking her little feet Nony ran across the music sheet giving Silent Night it's tune. When later she found the song attributed to "Anonymous", she was horrified that she got all of the credit, and she needed to set the record right. This is the TRUE story of Silent Night. [Color, released in 1990, with a running time of 1 hour.]
OK, as you can tell from the summary above, this is not a movie to be taken too seriously. It is a wonderful family movie, that is entirely live action (what a talented mouse!), and very funny. My little family got together, and laughed at the mouse's antics, young and old. This is a wonderful family movie, one that you should share with your family!

Delightful tale of Silent Night, December 13, 2009
This review is from: Silent Mouse: The True Story of Silent Night [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This has been a long-time favorite Christmas movie in our house. I purchased it when my daughter was small (she's now 22) and it is an annual favorite. (I just wish it would be put out on DVD.) It's the delightful story of how Silent Night came to be written as told by "Nonnie" aka A. Nonnie Mouse. It's truly a heartwarming story.

Entertaining little Christmas Story, November 12, 2007
This review is from: Silent Mouse: The True Story of Silent Night [VHS] (VHS Tape)
From the back cover of the VHS tape of Silent Mouse:
The true story of the famous carol Silent Night starts in a little town in Austria where a chain of strange events happened on Christmas Eve 1887. In Silent Mouse, Lynn Redgrave reveals a curious story of mice and men told in live action, and remarkable photography with a real mouse.
The film was shot entirely on location in Austria and Czechoslovakia. The music brings together some of Europe's most famous ensembles, choirs and orchestras.
