Watch Silly Salad Bowl Man Kill and Kill!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Silent Night Deadly Night 3 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Once upon a time, there was Silent Night, Deadly Night. It was alright. Me and my friends get together and watch bad horror movies frequently. Part One met the bill well. It was silly and gruesome and all around funny to us. Then we watched Part Two. It wasn't so hot. The first half of it was showing clips of the first movie. Yuck. Then tonight we viewed Part Three, or the one I'm writing the review for. It was bad. Real bad. Ricky is revived, and walks around with a salad bowl on his head instead of a skull. Great. Out of nowhere, they dropped the nun theme and went with a blind clairvoyant. Ok....as if that makes sense. It was predictable, and just not fun. If I wasn't insensitive to enjoy making blind person jokes the whole movie, I probably would have gone insane from boredom. (You know us teenagers. It's like we all have ADD). Anyway, the movie sucked. Don't see it. I would have given it 0 stars if they would have let me.

This movie shouldn't even have the Silent Night Deadly Night storyline. It had nothing to do with it and was extremely slow and I was bored throughout the whole thing. I recommend Silent Night 1 and Silent Night 2 over this.

Totally waste of time,

At the time Monte Hellman did "Silent Night, Deadly Night 3" he was at the lowest point of his career. It seems to me that he was in desperately need of money I have no other explanation why the director of "Two-Lane Blacktop" or "The Shooting" would have accepted to do this brainless and uninspired horrorflick. Although I haven't seen the first two "Silent Nights" (to be honest, I only watched this film because of Mr. Hellman being the director !) this Santa Claus thing is for the pits !

Merry Christmas... Not For You!!!,
This review is from: Silent Night Deadly Night 3 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
So this time the killer from part 2 is in a coma and a blind girl with psychic abilities is linked to his mind by a doctor's experiment. She sees his dreams (which include two brief flashbacks from the first movie but none from the second.) She goes with her brother and his girlfriend to her grandmother's cabin on Christmas Eve. Ricky wakes up, kills the hospital Santa Claus, and goes on a killing spree in search of Laura (the blind girl.) Needless to say, he makes it to Laura's grandmother's house first, and plenty of campy bloodshed ensues.
Bill Moseley (from "Texas Chainsaw Massacre part 2" and "House of 1000 Corpses/Devil's Rejects" plays Ricky. He wears a head case where you can see his brain, which was reconstructed after cops shot him in the head at the end of SNDN part 2 (Eric Freeman played Ricky in part 2). I kept waiting for it to get shot off, busted open, or something, but I was disappointed. That would have been the coolest way to kill him off. Robert Culp turned in a very campy performance as the investigator and was all but wasted. The doctor was a ham, as was the brother, who had bad 80's hair. The brother's girlfriend got naked, so we know what happened to her later on... Laura was a good character, played by Samantha Scully. I think this was the first thing I've seen her in. Not the best movie ever made, but it is a great bad horror movie. A worthy addition to the series, and a great way to get into the spirit on Christmas Eve! Missing was the classic line.... "Naughty..."

"BETTER WATCH OUT, THIS MOVIE STINKS",

I would say this is the worst in the Silent Night series. It has a lame story of Ricky surviving and is now in a coma who encounters a blind girl with E.S.P who can tap into his thoughts. If you think that sounds strange and quite stupid its because it is,this movie is unintentionly funny with the character Ricky wearing what looks to be a bowl of some sort on his head(reminds me of something from the kitchen)and Ricky is played by a different actor from the previous which I thought would be good news since the last Ricky was terrible, but this Ricky is just as bad. This movie is slow-paced and flat out boring. SKIP THIS AND TRY TO GET A COPY OF THE CLASSIC(1984/SILENT NIGHT,DEADLY NIGHT)INSTEAD OF PART 3 WHICH IS NOT EVEN WORTH A FREE RENTAL!

Finally, No More Flashbacks, But A Boring Sequel!,
By Robert Cornelius (Barrie, Ontario, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Silent Night Deadly Night 3 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
The hideously injured Ricky has been saved. Still deep in a coma, his exposed brain has been encased in a plexiglas cap bolted to his skull. But strange things start to happen when a gifted clairvoyant taps into Ricky's dark and twisted brain waves. Eventhough this film didn't have a bunch of flashbacks, it was still pretty boring. This time Ricky is quiet? Just because he got shot? These sequels keep getting worse and more worse. I've seen all the SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT films up to the third one, and I can tell you, these movies should be trashed. This time it has something to do with Christmas, but there's no snow. I know it can be Christmas without snow in some areas of the U.S. but please add some snow, so it doesn't look like you were in a rush to make this film. I remember the first SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT had snow, but the second one didn't, and neither did this one. These movies are just horrible. I thought it was also weird how he died. He was still alive when he should have been dead. Weird movie if you ask me. There might not be any more flashbacks, but it's still a horrible one to waste your time on. I'd rather watch the first one. I hope my review was helpful to you!

Great sequel!,

I absolutely love every chapter in this series (except for part 4) and this is one of the chief reasons why! In this one, Ricky the Santa Clause killer, goes up against a blind girl with ESP. There is lots of suspense, gore, and action here, as well as snappy production values and good acting. The only complaint I had about this movie by the time it was over was the fact that Ricky never dresses up as santa. All of the killer santa we see in this flick is footage from the previous movies or in a brief (about 2 minutes) dream sequence in which the killer santa does little more than raise a bloody knife in the air and look scary. Still a great movie though, and only second to part 2. Just for the record, here is a list of all the SN,DN films in the order of which I like them: 2(the best),3,5,1,4(the worst).

Silent Night, Deadly Night 1 and 2 are so much better... (and if you're thinking about seeing those bear in mind that you have to be the type who likes cheesy 80s horror.) SN, DN 3-5 are not recommended.

Stupid but still fun.,

I have seen every one of these Silent Night Deadly Night Movies, I have had fun watching them all.Every year at during the Christmas Season is movie night with one of these movies. This is by far the funniest one. This is a follow up to Silent Night part 2.This one is about Ricky,Billy`s(from the first Silent Night)little brother on the loose again.Ricky was shot in the second one from the cops for trying to kill the abusing Mother Supior, for his brothers revenge. This one there is some different guy playing Ricky than on part 2.It is not the same muscular psycho. It seems on this one that he didn`t die at all,but is getting studied for scientific experiments. He soon escapes the lab, with the doctor or what ever going after him.Their is a blind girl in the movie getting some sort of psychic esp reading of Ricky, knowing who he is.She is traveling with her brother and his girlfrien on the way to grandmas. This is where there is alot of flash backs from the previous two movies.Ricky the killer is of course walking around on the loose with his brain showing, which is pretty hilarious.Soon the doctor and this detective are looking for Ricky, and the doctor has sympathy for poor little ricky.Well I don`t want to spoil the ending. This is a fun movie.Anybody who is in to thw other Silent Night Deadly Night movies will be happy to add this to their collection.Or if a person who is new to the trilogy it is good for a watch.Give it a try.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Silent Night Deadly Night 3 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
SN,Dn was a classic horror flick and the second one was a alright black comedy but this pathetic trash is the worst of the series next to that horrendous part 4.
The so-called plot deals with a blind woman with ESP that knows who Ricky is going to kill next but when Ricky escapes the typical murders begin. This one is less bloodier than 1 and 2 but still awful.Just another waste of good celluloid on a stupid movie. Stick with part 1,2,and 5 and avoid part 3 and 4. |
