Beautifully sung and the sound is excellent. These are traditional German carols such as Silent Night ("Stille Nacht"), "Ihr Kinderlein kommet," "Es ist ein Ros entsprungen," etc. A cappella chorus on most tracks but accompanied by orchestra on some. Highly recommended. Probably my favorite disc of Christmas music, and also the least expensive!

Knowledge of German NOT REQUIRED - appreciation of good music IS! The music is simultaneously inspiring, relaxing, moving - a joy to the ear. Classical, yet not overbearing; traditional, but not stuffy. Elegant and fun. A beautiful blend of composition, execution and harmony. This is a DEFINITE MUST HAVE. Loved it enough to order a second copy for a friend (He isn't getting mine!)

I have the original cassette of this, and can't wait to buy the CD! This is a very beautiful collection, and I would recommend it to anyone!

I have an old cassette tape we have played every year for at least 20 years. It actually stays in the player year-round waiting for Christmas--and to see if it will actually play again. This is our family's absolute favorite Christmas music, and I keep waiting for it to come out in a CD, so I can ditch the warped sound of the old tape. Can I hope to find it again one day for an affordable price?

The two choirs on this CD sing wonderfully in tune, and the blend is really satisfying. My family knows quite a lot about the German language, and we found the accents from Dresden and Leipzig to be a really charming aspect. We had German university students as guests, and they enjoyed this music immensely. There are carols on this CD that you won't find anyplace else. Some of the instrumental passages could be improved, but the choirs are fabulous.

Flawless and beautiful chorus, plus you cannot beat the price. I have never seen a better album for a price even remotely near this.
This was a hit last Christmas with my family, and I'm sure you'll love it too!
