Great book for toddlers! My two year old loves it. I was hesitant to buy after reading multiple reviews about the batteries dying too quickly. It seems like the company took steps to improve the product. On the back, it now refers you to a website to get FREE replacement batteries. We haven't had to make that call yet, because ours is still working just fine a year after purchase. I noticed a much earlier review also said that they couldn't replace the batteries at all because there was no access. Our book had a normal screw-on compartment for the battery. Overall, we liked it enough to buy another for our cousin.

My 21 month son received this book as a Christmas Present. He absolutley LOVES this book! The music is mellow, and the lights are enchanting. He enjoys looking at the pictures, and watching the lights around "baby". The major problem with this book, is it DRAIN's batteries. He's had it for less than 14 days, and it has gone through it's second set of batteries. The batteries required for this book can be found only at the jewelry counter, and in total cost more than the original price for the book. He was devistated when the batteries failed the first time. We replaced them, and he's played the music probably less than 30 times in the three day's the new batteries have been in the book. This morning, the batteries died again! At 4 dollars a pop for batteries (the book requires 3), we're not going to replace them for the third time. I feel terrible, because this is a great book. If not for the battery issue, I'd glady give this book a 5...however, for the tears associated with dead batteries again....I give it a 1.

This is an awesome book for Christmas time! The book takes the well known "Silent Night" hymn and chimes the story of Christ along the same musical pattern. It creatively tells the story of Christ's birth and you can sing along as if you were singing Silent Night.

Here is an example: "Silent Night, Holy Night/ Manger bed, what a sight./ Mary wraps him soft and warm./ Joseph keeps him safe from harm./ There to guard and to keep./ There to guard and to keep."

It has a button to turn on the music to Silent Night, which is without vocals. When pressed it starts the song and no matter how many times you press the button (my daughter likes to press buttons multiple times as if she were creating a remix) it only plays the song once through and can't be "remixed." The button is located within the star cut out and is rubberized so that it's easy to push. When the button is pressed, along with playing the music, it also lights up a twinkling (not just blinking) halo around the baby Jesus, which is in a cutout like the star so that it is a focus on each page of the book.

The book also features an on/off switch on the back of the book so that you can enjoy the story without the music or lights. Next to the on/off switch is a compartment that holds a battery, you can unscrew (2 mini screws) to replace the battery. It takes 3 LR1130 batteries, which come pre-installed.

The speaker is located on the back of the book and is fairly piercing, so if you were intending to read it as a quiet lullaby, it is too loud for that. I'm sure there are tricks on muffling it, but it hasn't been a problem for us because I intended on having it as a hands-on, daytime book to help bring the joy of Christmas and Christmas music, while focusing on Christ. The wording in the book is simple and friendly and though it tells the story of Christ, it keeps things easy to follow and to understand. I am slightly concerned about the book getting worn around the cutout edges, since they're oddly shaped, but It's to be expected with any board book with cutouts.

The artwork is simple and cute, as displayed on the cover. It has 7 verses of the "Silent Night" story pages, and then on the 8th "verse" it has the traditional verse of Silent Night. The artwork and structure, being a board book, suggests that it's target audience be within the 1-5 yrs old range. I would consider it to be good for all ages because it has the creative use of Silent Night tune to tell the story.

My then, 21 month old son was given this book at Christmas time by my Mom- and what a hit it was with him! It is loud and the lights are bright- but that is what makes this book a HIT with little kids! It is now March and the batteries need to be replaced- but you can get 10 batteries on eBay for $4, so unless you play the book every day, the batteries in the book will last you a few months. I'm now looking for other books by this company for my son, he loves to play this book over and over before he goes to sleep. <3

My 10 month old granddaughter absolutely loves this book. She's fascinated with the interesting lights & sweet melody of Silent Night. Each page contains colorful illustrations along with different verses of the song, perfect for young children. She loves to look at the book herself or for "Nonna" to sing along. We have had no trouble with batteries as mentioned on another review.

This book is a very cute book. The pictures are very cute. But the problem is that the music and lights do not work. I ordered new batteries (free + s&h from the company that makes the book) and tried that, but it still did not work.

I bought this book for my two year old granddaughter. When I pushed the button nothing worked. At this time I am not sure if I will return it or just give it to her to read the story and look at the pictures. Awfully expensive.

Puts my grandson to sleep at night. He's two and "reads" it at night in
his crib to put him to sleep!

So glad to find a Bible story for him to dream on.

I ordered two of these for my grandchildren and they love opening the book and watching the baby Jesus light up in addition to the music. I would order these again

great little book for Christmas... my grandchildren really enjoyed the music with it and the story of Jesus was short enough for their age
