Rod Parsley is most definitely NOT your typical conservative Christian preacher. In this book, he cuts through the clutter of conflicting extremes and makes a very persuasive case for people concerned with the moral decay of America to get out of the pews and take action. In chapters covering topics as diverse as judicial tyranny, race, poverty, Islam and life issues, Parsley shows both boldness and compassion. This book could well be the catalyst that starts a moral revolution in America.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read For Solving Tough Issues!, October 7, 2006
This review is from: Silent No More: Bringing moral clarity to America.while freedom still rings (Hardcover)
Rod Parsley is not your normal everyday preacher but that is the way I like him. He doesn't dodge the tough issues. He tells them like they are. I especially like the abundant resources he offers at the end of each chapter. This book is a wake-up call for America! We need to take action before it is too late! We need more people like Rod Parsley. I pray with God's help we can turn this nation around and get out of the moral sewer we are in.

The final pages of the book hit me personally as Rod's wife told her story of her miscarriage. My wife and I could relate to her tragedy as we have experienced that tragedy more than once. That made the entire reading of this book worth it!

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent read, January 11, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Silent No More: Bringing moral clarity to America.while freedom still rings (Hardcover)
Pastor Rod truly shares his passion for the moral clarity of this great nation. UNfortunately main stream media and liberal thoughts have polluted our nation. Good read even for the non-Christian, very thought provoking and not just a bunch of unproven facts or ideas.

I am an Episcopalian, so I found it quite odd to be reading this book. Normally, I find myself perusing Bishop Spong or Humane Vitae, not fundamentalist literature. My parents, however, are Southern Baptists and while at their house I browsed through this book and found it interesting.

I've seen Parsley on television and was not terribly impressed. A younger version of Falwell or Robertson. This book however shows some originality which hopefully will lead the Fundamentalists into a more productive dialogue with more mainstream denominations.

I was shocked to see him take on the issues of race and poverty. I've never seen Pat Robertson address the issue of poverty, largely because to do so might undermine his preference for laissez faire capitalism. The fact that Parsley addresses these issues gives me the impression that he is seeking justice . . . even if I don't agree with how's he going about it.

He also talked about Islam. This chapter deserves points for originality but it is largely laced with ignorance and poor research. The idea that abortion should be banned as a method of out-growing Islam was, I think, the most appalling argument I've ever heard.

Then, chapters on abortion and homosexuality reveal nothing new. The abortion argument, other than the one above, are the same. He shows the same obsession on genitality, rather than the nature of the relationship, that the other people I see on TBN do. The scientific evidence is overwhelmingly clear that sexual orientation is determined biological factors, it's not a choice. Of course, I'm sure he would dismiss this, as he probably does evolution, as liberal bias, a nice way to ignore the truth. The man actually quotes the Family Research Council, which is not the most objective research available. "Knowledge isn't all it's cracked it up to be" is an actual quote from the book. Apparently, for Parsley, religion is about controlling thought rather than cultivating the love of Christ in our heart.

At any rate, if you are inclined to agree with Parsley (obviously I am not) I would recommend you read this book. Even if are like me and think he's simply wrong or ignorant on many points, I would still read it because we mainstream Christians need to enter into more dialogue with Fundamentalists, and he represents the future of that movement.

Finally, to conservatives who read this review and get angry let me offer this. The point of Christianity is to reconcile the world to God through Christ, not make sure we agree on every issue. We can disagree and still be bound in love by the act of worship. Peace be with you.

This book will inspire, challenge, and equip you to think differently about todays social, political, and spiritual conflict. It is a must read for the religious and the non-religious, the Democrat and the Republican, the liberal and the conservative, the African-American and every other race. It offers clear direction and solid answers to the questions of our day. Bold, forthright, and uncompromising - Pastor Parsley hits this one out of the park.

4.0 out of 5 stars Straighten Your Facts, June 26, 2005
This review is from: Silent No More: Bringing moral clarity to America.while freedom still rings (Hardcover)
Hello potential buyer.

I must admit that I have not read this entire book. I picked it up on the shelf at Wal-Mart and reviewed chapter titles and began to read the chapter on Islam. I decided to come home and peruse the reviews on Amazon to make my decision before I purchased the book. Two reviews given on this site are inflammatory, bigoted, and wrong. Typical atheistic, liberal, rantings that are not rooted in truth. If you believe these intentionally demeaning remarks toward God and the Bible, then you could miss an engaging read.

WARNING!!!!! THE FOLLOWING COMMENTS ARE HIGHLY SARCASTIC!!!!!

Yes, it is true. I am that most loathsome of creatures! According to atheists, and liberals my views are the cause of 99.99% of all the pain and suffering in the world. Oh Yes! I am a Christian!!!!! GASP!! Not just a Christian mind you. But a white, male, southern, protestant one. Now on to my critique.

On the Founding Fathers (note: the following information can be found in any number of history textbooks written before the "enlightened" era of the 1960s. Liberals refer to these as Fascist, racist, and intolerant)

The "Founding Fathers" or FF for short, were by and large white, male, protestants. They traced their lineage to Europe and came to the "New" world seeking religious AND economic freedom. Yes those nasty, selfish, brutes actually wanted to make a profit for their families. Now the FF wanted to make sure that the intolerant practices that they had escaped in Europe would not be repeated in this "New" land that they had "found" (notice I have included nifty quotation marks to appease liberals who constantly remind us that our ancestors stole this land from the natives and discovered nothing. Of course I have never met one white liberal who is willing to forfeit their land and possessions back to Native Americans still living in this country) Therefore, the FF instituted an ingeneous system of checks and balances called the U.S. Constitution. The Constitution gives all members of America the freedom to worship as they see fit without the interference of government (as long as your religion does not endanger the lives of other citizens i.e. Islam which preaches the subjugation of the entire world under Islamic rule for the greater glory of Allah. Liberals have no apparent problem with this)

Ringo asked the author above if he would be willing to allow prayers to Allah in school if it was the major religion in America. Ringo! If Islam was the major religion in America then yes we would be praying to Allah in school! Name a Muslim controlled country where Christians have the right to pray and worship freely......give up?....you should because it doesn't exist! The author is making an ensightful point. What a Muslim controls, they dominate. Religion and government are one in the same. Think before you speak or type for just a second. Can you or Krause name one time in your life as an American citizen that you were "forced" to worship the God of the Christian religion? Atheists and liberals spend countless hours telling Americans that they are offended and endangered by "right-wing Christians" attempting to force their beliefs on the American people. "Right-wing" Christians, like myself, are fighting to preserve what works. Liberalism and atheism do not work. Let's look at what these two idealogies having given America. Abortion, pornography, child pornography, understanding for rapists, our of control welfare, homes where fathers are not needed, weakened military, and the teaching that we as humans are glorified mammals who have no more right to living on this planet than a common slug. Get my point!

Ringo. You argue that because we have Bibles in schools and organizations such as Fellowship of Christian Athletes, that school prayer is a misnomer that "right wingers" don't understand. Well, aside from being a Christian I'm also a teacher. Yes people it is possible to be both. Let me break down the realities of God and school today in modern America. He ain't there!!!!! God was asked to leave schools a few decades ago, and He obliged us. The atheists and liberals gave us exactly what they said we needed. A completely secular, Godless, school environment sterilized of the vitriolic hate speech of Christianity. What do we have to show for it today? I'll tell you since I'm there everyday during the school year. Children without guidance, respect, love, caring, or compassion. Kids who think Moses is a basketball player and Jonah's whale is a rock band. Students who threaten the lives of their teachers (yes, both my wife and I have had students make threats to kill us) and sardonically smile when you can do nothing to them. Liberals either believe that children should be killed(abortion) or deified. Students today are deified due to the short sighted decisions of liberals in America. No respect, no responsibility.

Now I will direct my laser like intellect to Kenneth's attack of the Bible as a bigoted, slavery supporting book. For those of you reading this article let me make one thing crystal clear for you. This critique is wrong!!! The Bible does not teach that slavery is encouraged or endorsed. Picking a few verses out of the Bible and misrepresenting them out of their historical and narrative context does not constitute a sound logical argument. This is a common practice of Atheists. They pick verses and represent them out of context to prove a point.(Note: One thing you can say about many atheists. They have read the bible more than most Christians!)

Atheists love to attack the Bible and compare the historical plight of the ancient Hebrews as if they lived in a sunny suburb of the east or left coast. The Hebrews were surrounded by what the O.T. tells us were wicked and perverse people. People who intended to subjugate the Hebrews. Leviticus 18:21,24 is an example of such a people. Worshipers of Molech were offering their children as human sacrifices to their god. I'm sure that these people would have supported partial birth abortion today. What punishment would we mete out for such a heinous crime today? Death or life in prison? Prison is for all practical purposes a form of slavery. People are placed under the custody of the state where their freedoms are revoked. Should we release all prisoners because this is in effect slavery??

Slaves in ancient days were often taken as war captives. Slavery being considered an alternative to execution. In effect the Hebrews used free will, under God's guidance to, to provide a level of treatment almost unheard of in all of human history. In Exodus 20:10 God provides a mandated day of rest for male and female servants. Deuteronomy 23:15,16 allows for slaves to run away to kinder masters, thus impressing upon the Israelites the importance of treating slaves properly. While at first confusing, Exodus 21:20 actually provides for a slave to be avenged if they are beaten to death! What other people in history practiced this sort of restraint in the treatment of slaves? One last point on slavery. Kidnapping humans for the purpose of slavery was punishable by death! Read Exodus 21:16.

My last point involves Kenneth's use of the Crusades to show Christianity's cruelty. One point that atheists and liberals conveniently forget to tell you, while lambasting Jesus and his follower's, was that the Muslims had spent a few centuries subjugating Europe and forcing Europeans to their religion. They don't mind mentioning the atrocities that European knights were guilty of, but they make no mention of the cruelties and evils placed upon the Europeans by the followers of Allah! Liberals don't understand that ALL wars are gruesome and sickening. They would have you believe that the Muslims were just passing through the lands of Europe peacefully teaching their enlightened religion to intolerant Christian bigots.

Happy Reading!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book, but not for the liberal of heart, June 13, 2005
This review is from: Silent No More: Bringing moral clarity to America.while freedom still rings (Hardcover)
This is a great book, especially if you know how to OBJECTIVELY look at this country's past and founding, and how to understand what the Founding Fathers meant by their words by understanding WHO they were. A past reviewer wrote of lack of mention of a god in the Constituion. Does "nature's GOD" sound familiar? Hhmmm. Does it ever occur to that same reviewer that there is mention of unalienable rights given by whom other than, you got it, a Creator. Wow. Amazing what one can see when one doesn't have the blinders of athiesm and liberalism on!

Pastor Parsley is the kind of guy who writes with heart, mind, compassion and authority. He is not bound by the so-called "political correctness" that controls every segment of American Society and the world.
Pastor Parsley cannot be defined as just another "fundamentalist" preacher; Pastor Parsely is a true American, Christian, and concerned citizen who decided to do something against the evil forces that are destroying America.
The book just confrms what others before him have been saying and proclaiming: Islam is a threat to human civilization. This is the kind of book that politicians from both sides need to read and meditate. Christianity is being viciously attacked by liberal politicians in Washington and other anti-Christian groups, now a humble preacher decided to be "silent not more."

This review is from: Silent No More: Bringing moral clarity to America.while freedom still rings (Hardcover)
Rod Parsley is a religious parasite whose only message is agree with me or burn. And by the way, my multi-million dollar mansion needs a paint job so fork it over. He is one of the worst examples of hypocritical money grubbing bigots in modern history. He has used his pulpit to spew venom and collect cash by the truckload. His book is a blatant effort to martial the forces of ignorance and prejudice and use their collective bile to corrode the freedom and tolerance that exemplify modern, humane societies. He represents every dark, violent passion that ever possessed a bloodthirsty fanatic from the Crusades, the Inquisition to Al Quaeda. He is dangerous and this book is poison.

This review is from: Silent No More: Bringing moral clarity to America.while freedom still rings (Hardcover)
I was half expecting from the author's history to read a book filled with half truths. The author only managed to drag himself half way there. I'd say at best him manages 1/4 truths. Save your money, unless you need to exercise your neck muscles. You'll be shaking your head quite a bit.
