I have a problem with insomnia, and I just got a new clock radio, which, unfortunately, has a very soft alarm. So, I bought two aggressive looking twin bell alarm clocks, This one, and a Sharp SPC800 Quartz Analog Twin Bell Alarm Clock (Silver). I have used both, side by side, and they both work like a charm, LOUDLY. IN case you didn't notice, both run on a single AA battery, not supplied, which is great because winding up a clock is the last thing you want to do when you go to bed.

Both are made in China, and they have similar, but not identical layouts in the back, suggesting two different manufacturers and works. This one has a neat red ribbon to help you retrieve the battery from its niche. Both have lights, but they are of little value unless it is in the dead of night, with no other lights. Any ambient light washes it out.

Both are easy to set, and the setting knob on both time and alarm position go in either direction (not necessarily true in a manual, wind-up clock.)

My caveat is that there were color options with this clock, and I selected a white face; but I got the standard black face anyway. Annoying, but not enough to return.

This is a really nice clock, as other reviewers have said. I won't repeat the generic remarks about its qualities because they are very true.

I don't know if mine was a defective model, but last night, the hands went out of alignment. First, I noticed that the clock was an hour ahead. Weird, so I proceeded to adjust it. To my amazement, the minute hand was no longer 'in sync' with the hour hand, as in, when the hour hand points to 4 o'clock sharp, for example, the minute hands points to the 6 instead of 12. No matter how I try to turn it, the minute and hour hands don't match.

What's weird is that when I got this clock, it functioned perfectly fine. Last night, this malfunction occurred and I hadn't touched the clock since the morning. I didn't tamper with anything other than the on/off switch.

Another thing; the markings between the hours are rather difficult to use. There are 4 degrees in between an hour, so each hour is divided into 12 minute increments (0:00, 0:12, 0:24, 0:36, 0:48, 1:00). It's not that bad, as I don't need to be precise with my time, it's just weird.

One more thing; people say its silent, but it isn't. The ticking is very, very quiet, but there's still a ticking and I can notice it from the other side of my bedroom. BUT, it's so quiet that you won't notice it unless you try to, so falling asleep isn't a problem.

The alarm isn't precise, as it goes off when the hour hand is in proximity. The bell is great, however, and always wakes me up in the few days that this clock was functioning. The alarm still works, by the way.

This would have been my favorite bedside clock. I hope to get a free replacement, if not a refund. I will update this review and my rating if anything changes.

It keeps good time, as I expect of a quartz crystal clock. The face is highly visible, and the ringer (bell) makes a lot of noise when it rings. I really needed that, because I do not hear the high frequencies put out by many other electronic alarm clocks. The only annoyance is that the clock is slightly unstable, probably because the center of gravity is high because the two bells on top are relatively heavy compared to the otherwise light clock. As a consequence, if I bump the clock, like when I am trying to turn it off after reaching over from my bed, it may topple over. It is a 12-hour clock, and you can set the alarm for no longer ahead than somewhat less than 12 hours, say not more than about 10 hours ahead. The clock has a little button on the back that turns on a small light to light the face of the clock for as long as you hold the button.
Except for the color, the style of the face, and the fact that it has a pushbutton to light a small light bulb to illuminate the face, this clock is nearly identical to the Sharp SPC800 clock, also sold by Amazon.com.

I bought this item not only for the Extra Loud Alarm feature but for the "Quiet" feature of the tick. The other clocks that I have had would keep me up from the ticking of the second hand.

Husband needed a clock that would wake the dead and it does. BRIGHT AND EARLY and obnoxious! LOL This is the clock to get if you are a deep sleeper. So glad we got it.

I am very pleased with this clock but really wish the night light could be kept on all night or that the hands and numbers could be seen in the dark. Do not like having to pickup clock to turn on nite lite ever time I want to see the time.

It tells time and is very loud. This Chinese-made plastic clock is very flimsy, the knobs fall out into my hand and need putting back.
I paid $22 for this supposedly on discount. It should cost less than $5, and was certainly manufactured for a fraction of that.
If you want to be over-charged for a junky clock this is for you.

The alarm stopped working after 1 month. Now it just tells time.
