5.0 out of 5 stars Very Good, July 20, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Silent Radar (Audio CD)
One of The Watchmen's finest work. The album flows very well, from tight enrgitic tunes, to slower echoing ballads. If you are an American you should jump at the opportunity to see or listen to this band. The Watchmen rock., and Silent Radar is always great for any road trip. A must have for your collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Music, GREAT, May 17, 1999

I see them in the september on MTV and two days ago the album is in the shops here in germany. I think: Try it! when its not good, you can swap the cd and take the new from the New Model Army. Hey - its 48 hours and 20 and 20 times of hearing later and The Watchmens "Silent Radar" still stay here. Only the fabulous Ghost Of An American Airman are so great. True GREAT

From the time I first saw the video for "Any Day Now" I was hooked! It's been a long time since a band has simply blown me away like The Watchmen.. The music, the lyrics, the voice - all amazing.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very special record, May 6, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Silent Radar (Audio CD)
I'm a music fan from Austria, the band is widely unknwon here. I got to hear "Stereo" on VH1 and I was stunned with the very first time I heared it. "Silent radar" is without a doubt my favourite CD, never heared anything like this before. It seems to me like I've grown up with that record even though I just bought it 8 months ago. Just listen to that record, it's hard to explain the feelings about such special music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Canada's best kept secret: Reviewed by long time fan., April 29, 1999

Silent Radar is "THE WATCHMEN's" fourth solid album. I've seen them live five times, and let me tell you; THEY RULE. A very tight and energetic band that is finally getting the respect they deserve. If you like The Tragically Hip, you'll love The Watchmen.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid effort, April 21, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Silent Radar (Audio CD)
Another solid effort from the boys in Winnipeg. The Watchmen won't knock your socks off, but you'll find yourself putting this album into your CD player again and again. I saw them perform just before the American band Creed, and Creed was booed off the stage. I guess tripe like "My Own Prison" just doesn't compare to "Stereo" or "Boneyard Tree". Have a listen, no guarentees, but I think you'll like them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Modern, mature rock at its finest, February 24, 2000

Few bands today have the guts to write a real rock record anymore. The type of albums that ebb and flow from fast to slow songs creating a unique listening experience. On Silent Radar, The Watchmen have created the sort of record that doesn't hit you over the head with ridiculous rock riffs or sappy love ballads, these guys write rock songs with being, middles and ends with the sort of guitar, bass and drum playing that will make anyone throw a Backstreet Boys cd out the window. Daniel Greaves vocal always emit emotions without becomming sappy, on Any Day Now he cries out for his boredom to end without sounding overly sentimental. From the opening Pearl Jam sounding rocker Stereo to the hauntingly beautiful closer Brighter Hell, Silent Radar is a record any fan of mature rock must have.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another of Canada's Best, September 9, 2000

This review is from: Silent Radar (Audio CD)
My first contact with The Watchmen came in October or 1999 when they opened for The Tragically Hip in Syracuse. Most songs came from "Silent Radar" and made such an impact that I had to purchase the album right at the show. There are no "filler" songs on the entire album and gives you straight forward roknroll with a great mix of instrumentation. This album was a Juno nominee for Best Album of the Year. I strongly recommend this work!!!
