Silent Run is a book that you will definitely fall for!, April 6, 2008
This review is from: Silent Run (Paperback)
Barbara Freethy has created another entertaining and suspenseful book in Silent Run.
Sarah Tucker is a woman on the run when she gets into a car accident which she is lucky to have survived. She wakes up in a hospital bed as a Jane Doe with no memory of who she is. She had no identification on her and the police circulate her photo on the news with hope of someone she knows coming forth to identify her.
Someone does come forth and his name is Jake Sanders. He is the one who identifies her as Sarah Tucker, his former girlfriend and mother to his daughter, Caityln. It seems that they were together for two years and were living together. One day while he is out of town, she disappears with their daughter. Since that day seven months ago, Jake has been looking for her and their daughter. The problem is that she doesn't have Caitlyn with her and doesn't remember where she could be. Was she in the car with Sarah when it crashed?
Jake is angry and bitter at Sarah and his feeling is understandable. Sarah was the love of his life and who he wanted to marry as well as the mother to their child. One day she ups and disappears with their daughter and he never hears from her again. His primary objective is to find his daughter and the only way to do that is to work with Sarah. Jake realizes soon afterward that someone is truly after Sarah and is trying to kill her. The questions are many and of course the answers are few since Sarah can't remember any of it. She has flashes of memory but can't place them or understand what they mean to her. She has obviously been on the run from someone but for how long and why?
The journey to find the answers to her past and find her daughter keep the reader in suspense to the very end. Jake and Sarah are a believeable couple who had been obviously been in love at one point and maybe still are. Sarah can't remember their life together let alone the love that they shared and Jake's love is mixed in with all the bitterness and anger of her leaving with their daughter. Will they find out all the answers to Sarah's past? Will they find their daughter, Caitlyn? Will they have a future together? You will have to read this exciting and suspenseful book to find out. Don't miss the follow up to this book, Silent Fall, which I am currently reading.

3.5 stars. The second half was better than the first half. I enjoyed the process of collecting clues to solve the mystery., July 22, 2009
This review is from: Silent Run (Paperback)
STORY BRIEF:
The story begins with a car following Sarah. She is driving in a storm, afraid, and has an accident. She ends up in the hospital with amnesia. Her 16 month old daughter Caitlyn is missing. Jake arrives and claims to be Caitlyn's father. He says Sarah lived with him for 2 years and then ran away 7 months ago taking Caitlyn. He is angry and wants his daughter Caitlyn back. Meanwhile someone tries to kill Sarah while she is in the hospital. Jake and Sarah leave the hospital and together they start searching for Caitlyn. Sarah's instincts tell her to keep the police out of it. They start with a few clues from the police and then pieces of her memory periodically return, which give them more clues to follow.
REVIEWER'S OPINION:
The first half dragged a bit. Sarah was frustrated at having no memory. Jake was angry and frustrated because Sarah lied to him, left him, took their child, and can't remember anything. A number of conversations seemed repetitive with Jake asking and Sarah not remembering.
The second half was better. Sarah remembered bits and pieces of her past. Other people provided clues. Catherine was an interesting character, a vegetarian and a psychic artist with a menagerie of pets. I enjoyed and looked forward to her parts in the story.
This book was not typical for romantic suspense because we do not see the development of a relationship. The story begins after the relationship ended. The couple is apart and at odds with each other. The relationship questions are: Will they get together again? Why did she leave? Will Jake forgive her? The suspense questions are: Where is Caitlyn? Why is Sarah running? Who is trying to kill her?

Excellent!, September 1, 2011
Silent Run is a terrific romantic suspense novel. The action starts immediately. I loved the premise. Sarah wakes up in the hospital and has no idea who she is. A man shows up claiming he's her husband. A cop appears with all kinds of questions but the most important one is where is her baby. Sarah has to figure out who she is and who she can trust. A gripping story. I couldn't put it down. And I liked that the characters had some flaws. No one was perfect, but they felt very real. Don't miss this one!
