Barbara Freethy has created another entertaining and suspenseful book in Silent Run.
Sarah Tucker is a woman on the run when she gets into a car accident which she is lucky to have survived. She wakes up in a hospital bed as a Jane Doe with no memory of who she is. She had no identification on her and the police circulate her photo on the news with hope of someone she knows coming forth to identify her. Someone does come forth and his name is Jake Sanders. He is the one who identifies her as Sarah Tucker, his former girlfriend and mother to his daughter, Caityln. It seems that they were together for two years and were living together. One day while he is out of town, she disappears with their daughter. Since that day seven months ago, Jake has been looking for her and their daughter. The problem is that she doesn't have Caitlyn with her and doesn't remember where she could be. Was she in the car with Sarah when it crashed? Jake is angry and bitter at Sarah and his feeling is understandable. Sarah was the love of his life and who he wanted to marry as well as the mother to their child. One day she ups and disappears with their daughter and he never hears from her again. His primary objective is to find his daughter and the only way to do that is to work with Sarah. Jake realizes soon afterward that someone is truly after Sarah and is trying to kill her. The questions are many and of course the answers are few since Sarah can't remember any of it. She has flashes of memory but can't place them or understand what they mean to her. She has obviously been on the run from someone but for how long and why? The journey to find the answers to her past and find her daughter keep the reader in suspense to the very end. Jake and Sarah are a believeable couple who had been obviously been in love at one point and maybe still are. Sarah can't remember their life together let alone the love that they shared and Jake's love is mixed in with all the bitterness and anger of her leaving with their daughter. Will they find out all the answers to Sarah's past? Will they find their daughter, Caitlyn? Will they have a future together? You will have to read this exciting and suspenseful book to find out. Don't miss the follow up to this book, Silent Fall, which I am currently reading.

3.5 stars. The second half was better than the first half. I enjoyed the process of collecting clues to solve the mystery.,

STORY BRIEF:
The story begins with a car following Sarah. She is driving in a storm, afraid, and has an accident. She ends up in the hospital with amnesia. Her 16 month old daughter Caitlyn is missing. Jake arrives and claims to be Caitlyn's father. He says Sarah lived with him for 2 years and then ran away 7 months ago taking Caitlyn. He is angry and wants his daughter Caitlyn back. Meanwhile someone tries to kill Sarah while she is in the hospital. Jake and Sarah leave the hospital and together they start searching for Caitlyn. Sarah's instincts tell her to keep the police out of it. They start with a few clues from the police and then pieces of her memory periodically return, which give them more clues to follow. REVIEWER'S OPINION: The first half dragged a bit. Sarah was frustrated at having no memory. Jake was angry and frustrated because Sarah lied to him, left him, took their child, and can't remember anything. A number of conversations seemed repetitive with Jake asking and Sarah not remembering. The second half was better. Sarah remembered bits and pieces of her past. Other people provided clues. Catherine was an interesting character, a vegetarian and a psychic artist with a menagerie of pets. I enjoyed and looked forward to her parts in the story. This book was not typical for romantic suspense because we do not see the development of a relationship. The story begins after the relationship ended. The couple is apart and at odds with each other. The relationship questions are: Will they get together again? Why did she leave? Will Jake forgive her? The suspense questions are: Where is Caitlyn? Why is Sarah running? Who is trying to kill her? DATA: Story length: 378 pages. Swearing language: strong. Sexual language: mild. Number of sex scenes: 1, four pages long. Setting: current day California. Copyright: 2008. Genre: romantic mystery suspense.

Excellent!,
This review is from: Silent Run (Sanders Brothers #1) (Kindle Edition)
Silent Run is a terrific romantic suspense novel. The action starts immediately. I loved the premise. Sarah wakes up in the hospital and has no idea who she is. A man shows up claiming he's her husband. A cop appears with all kinds of questions but the most important one is where is her baby. Sarah has to figure out who she is and who she can trust. A gripping story. I couldn't put it down. And I liked that the characters had some flaws. No one was perfect, but they felt very real. Don't miss this one!

new fan,

I have never read anything by this author before but I thought the plot sounded interesting so I decided to give it a try. I won't go into details since others have already done so. It takes a very special book for me to not only write a review but to also give it 5 stars!! This is one of them. I stayed up until 1 am reading this book. I finally had to put it down so that I could get some sleep because I have to go to work at 7 am. I have about 1/3 of the book left to read and I can't wait to get home tonight to finish it. Why is she running? Who got shot? Who has the baby? I can't wait to find out!!

This book pulls you in from page 1. The situation is compelling (a woman who's lost her memory and her child) and gets even more so as the child's father enters the picture. There are mysteries on top of mysteries as truths are revealed. And the romance is fraught with conflict and tension. It's an excellent blend of romance and suspense that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Highly reommended!

one sitting suspense thriller,
This review is from: Silent Run (Paperback)
Following a nasty car crash, a woman is rushed to St. Mary's Hospital in Santa Barbara County suffering a traumatic injury to her brain. To her shock she cannot remember who she is. Angry Jake Sanders arrives claiming Jane Doe is his lover Sarah Tucker, who vanished with their daughter Caitlyn. However, Sarah suffers amnesia and the emergency rescuers insist no baby was in the car or at the accident scene.
Although barely talking to one another, Jake and Sarah team up in a frantic hunt for Caitlyn. However, Jake who thought he knew Sarah when they were together revises his opinion when he concludes she was on the lam even when they lived together. When an unknown adversary tries to kill Sarah, Jake knows that Caitlyn is in jeopardy because of her mother's unknown past. This is a one sitting suspense thriller from the moment that Jane Doe awakens in the hospital to the final altercation. The romantic subplot enhances the desperate search as she knows she has lived a life of lies but cannot recall them and he feels betrayed by the woman he loves, who might not exist. As they continue their SILENT RUN, readers slowly learn what Sarah forgot. Barbara Freethy provides a gripping romantic suspense. Harriet Klausner

Twists and turns and romance, too ...,
This review is from: Silent Run (Sanders Brothers #1) (Kindle Edition)
Another can't-put-down read by Barbara Freethy ... The layers get pulled back chapter by chapter and eventually you get to find out the secrets that lie behind the mysterious goings on ... Plus there's a lot of passion between Sarah and Jake. You don't know how they're going to get through everything they have to get through, but somehow they do. A compelling novel. Be prepared to miss some sleep!

A SIX stars book,

This review is from: Silent Run (Paperback)
Since the very first word to the very last this book will hook you to it. You won't be able to close it till you finish it. You'll want to know what will happen in the next page and you won't have any inkling of the end till the end. You'll learn about friendship, love and family. So for me this book deserves SIX stars.
P.S. If you like this kind of thrillers read: Remember Me by Sharon Sala
