5.0 out of 5 stars The Crazy Private Eye lures us again into a fascinating story, October 21, 2009
This review is from: The Silent Salesman (Albert Samson Mystery) (Paperback)
I love Lewin's Albert Samson mysteries. It doesn't even bother me that Samson would never really be able to even live as a PI because he spends so much time pursuing things that might not pay. This mystery is well set up. A sister inquires about her brother hurt in an accident at a chemical lab. Turns out the guy isn't even a chemist but a salesman. Lewin meets the wife and because of her, keeps investigating even after his original client calls everything off. Unlike some writers who let the reader figure out what's going on long before the main character does, Lewin seems to let us figure out part of what is going on before the main character, but not all. In fact for all his problems, Samson is quite brilliant in his unraveling of the complexity of the case.

I think Lewin's Albert Samson is an acquired taste but this is entertaining and well worth reading.
