5.0 out of 5 stars Surreal and Imaginative, November 9, 2008
By
This review is from: Silent Shout (W/Dvd) (Dlx) (Audio CD)
The Knife have said themselves that "Silent Shout" has come much closer to the kind of music they have had in mind than their previous albums. And what hauntingly beautiful minds they have. I wont elaborate on the album itself because if you're considering this deluxe edition you have most likely purchased or obtained the album already. But to receive a DVD of their live show/experience in Gothenburg, Sweden and all of their music videos along with a CD recording of the live show is a real treat. Very affordable considering the content and highly recommended to anyone that can identify with this type of music. Buy it and savor it.

One of the most interesting records ever produced. Experimental and haunting.
In a few words: it takes risks. And it succeeds.

5.0 out of 5 stars SWEEEET!, August 14, 2009
This review is from: Silent Shout (W/Dvd) (Dlx) (Audio CD)
Not much else to say. A must have for any fan of the knife. Amazing.
The live CD is actually something I listen too and I am not a big fan of live CDs.
The DVD is good enough to be sold separately for 20$.
And of course Silent Shout is a remarkable CD.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Album - OK Live Performance, September 11, 2007

Some musicians just aren't cut out for the live performance. If you're a fan of Silent Shout itself, then this 3 disc edition is the definitive edition, but not because of an exciting live audio disc. The DVD is interesting and the original album is naturally a 5/5. The live audio disc could have been padded with some bonus tracks, etc. but instead it's a short disc with exactly the same audio as the DVD. Meh.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best concert DVD ever, March 20, 2011
This review is from: Silent Shout (W/Dvd) (Dlx) (Audio CD)
The Knife are an amazing group with truly interesting and compelling music. Silent Shout is one of my favorite albums of all time and the live DVD is hands down the best concert DVD out there (yes, better than Stop Making Sense). The live album offers interesting re-imaginings of some of their best tracks across all of their albums. I can't put into words exactly how awesome this live concert is, it changed my life.

I love this so much I bought two, just in case one gets lost/stolen/broken or if none of that happens so I have one to pass down to my children so they can see a truly amazing moment in music history.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best live album, January 25, 2011

This is my favorite knife album by far. What sets it apart is that they actually change their live songs in ways that make the album really interesting to listen to. Great sounds! Definitely weird, but that's to be expected. The DVD is a treat as well. They match the audio with some intense visuals. It's perfect.

5.0 out of 5 stars A robust, unforgettable and unique musical package worth every penny!, July 31, 2010

Catchy percussion, strong keys and haunting vocals in a three-disc set makes this one of the best music deals I've seen in a long time; when The Knife gets their unique kind of 'dance music' right, they get it so right!

Concert DVD also has Knife music videos and is immensely viewable.
Music concert CD takes different angles on existing tunes.

A highly recommended combo ... buyers should accompany this one w/Deep Cuts.

This is an excellent deluxe edition at a great price! I am new to The Knife (thanks to Fever Ray) and this was the first album of theirs I purchased. It's worth every penny even if you already have the initial album. Peace out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must Have for Fans, Great Introduction for the Uninitiated, November 16, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Silent Shout (W/Dvd) (Dlx) (Audio CD)
The Knife are ahead of their time. Watching the live footage corrected some of my misconceptions on how they worked. I was surprised that the lady member of the band seems to control her own effects and sings just about everything on the album save for one song, a highlight of the visual experience, where the guest singer is portrayed on the projection screen and they have a duet in a really creepy way.
