Up and Comming Success,
By "maddieski" (Swampscott, MA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Silent Steeples (Audio CD)
I recently bought this CD through a friend and was really blown away by the talent Dispatch, formerly One Fell Swoop, has. I am a HUGE Dave Matthew's Band fan which brought me to them. I would obviously tell everyone to get this CD and give it a listen - i'm almost positive you'd like it. They're a mix of older DMB, reggae, and ska that really gives them an excellent sound. Track 12 titled "Elias" incorporated some great Zimbabwean lyrics and tells a great story - this song made me want to learn to play the bongos... it's an incredible CD, and is followed by Bang Bang and Four Day Trials if you like this...

Great Cd from a Great band,

After reading many reviews of Dispatch, I have noticed many people comparing them to DMB. I have been a fan of Dispatch for quite sometime now and personally do not see any resemblence between the two. But that is besides the point. This is one of the greatest cd's the band has put it out. The song Hey,Hey is an excellent example of the vocal and musical talent of this group. Elias is my personal favorite song of their's, this song shows just how talented the group is, it combines elements of new age rock with an almost reagae sound, the background music in itself is very impressive. For a truly unique experience buy this and any other of their cd's. I would also recommend the band member's solo projects which are equally impressive. I would say this is the best group never heard. If you want to get away from the same old boring songs they play on the radio stations and want to experience something new and interesting, check out dispatch today... you wont be dissapointed.

new Dispatch fan,

Dispatch puts so much more soul and technical musical ability into their songs than do most popular artists. I agree, Elias is an awesome song - it makes me want to sing and play guitar and bongos all at once - it's just a powerful song. All the other songs are also great, especially #4, #5 and #11. This is definitely Dispatch's best album - intricate vocal harmonies and beautiful lyrics without all the over-production that often screws up music. Buy it! For a similar artist, look at Rockwell Church or Guster.

I got this CD from my friend on my lacrosse team and all I can say is that it is THE BEST!!! i constantly listened to "steeples" for about a month and I am still not tired of it. "Mayday" is also a great song. I love O.A.R, 311, Moe., Phish, and all of them, but these guys are probably at the top. This CD is so worth the money. It is great for studying to. Go buy it!

Dispatch is a classic band, and its such a shame they broke up. There music has hints of different kinds, and it is especially a raegae inspired band, but with a different sence and twist on it. Every CD they have it great and fun filled to listen to. I would suggest any and all of them.

Unbelievable, my favorite cd of all time,

I can't even describe how good this cd and band are. I love all dispatch music, but this album is particulary amazing to me. As many have said this album is more acoustic than their other albums. This is a cd you can listen to from start to finish a thousand times over and never get tired of. I love all the tracks, but standouts for me were 3,4,5,10, and 12. Buy this CD, you will not regret it!!!

Some of the greatest musicians of our time!,

This is one of the best album's I have ever herd! I fell in love with every song on this album. I couldn't tell you my favorite song because I love every single one on this album. This is the best lyrics I have ever herd. And I love the acoustic guitar and I like how they switch around with the musical insturments. You can tell that this group is very talented at what they do. Most cd's I listen to only have a couple good songs but on this this album I fell in love with each and every song. Each song was like a new adventure. All of the songs on this album tells a diffrent story. "Elias" was one of the most beautiful songs I have ever herd. And "hey Hey" had a great harmony through out the whole song. This album is absolutly "Flawless"

really, really incredible...,

It's funny that I'm about to write this review as though I'm an expert on this group, because I literally heard my first Dispatch song yesterday. Even so, I was so instantly in love with their sound that since that time (less than 24 hours ago) I've downloaded two whole Dispatch CD's on my rediculously slow computer (it takes like 20 minutes per song). This CD is just amazing, you wouldn't want to miss it. Just be forwarned, if you do decide to turn off that boring radio of yours and give this a listen, you might not be able to stop. Right now for example, I have Elias and Bridges (my two favorite tracks) on a continuous loop. Also, I've read a lot of reviews that saying that this group is a lot like Dave Matthews. I've been a die hard DMB fan for a long time, but none of these songs remind me of the group. I will say, however, that if you are a fan of DMB, Dispatch will probably appeal to you because of the really creative instrumentals and great acoustic melodies. Dispatch has awesome harmonies that you probably don't get much of with most of Dave's stuff. Bottom line is, Dispatch is good, and Silent Steeples is incredible. Give them a chance...

Middlebury College Band hits it big,
By Leslie (Vermont) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Silent Steeples (Audio CD)
Dispatch recorded this album back in '95 when they were at Middlebury College in Vermont. They were called One Fell Swoop back then after changing their name from the Woodriver Bandits. If you ever see them live it's definitely worth the trip. I have the Silent Steeples original CD from when they were called One Fell Swoop. I can't believe that they have actually released new material. I'm going to pick up Bang Bang and their live album right away.
