4.0 out of 5 stars The piano part stunk like socks
The piano part was really off, just as another reviewer mentioned. I had to pull out my PSM magazine guide to get it right! The maps are often wrong, and locations of demon children in Midwich Elementary sometimes are wrong! They don't even have profiles of the bosses/demons you battle against like the flying demons or the monkeys! If you need moderate help in Silent...

If you need a lot of help, buy the April '99 issue of Tips & Tricks for assistance. Or, get the Expert Gamer magazine w/Silent Hill on the cover. OR the Prima Games guide + the PSM guides.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unathorized and Uncut. But for game version 1.2 not 1.1, July 11, 2006
This review is from: Silent Hill Totally Unauthorized Strategy Guide [for PlayStation] (Paperback)
Ok, i bought this guide because i despise the official brady game guides. They're soo pent up on not giving away spoilers...ugh neway this strategy guide is awesome. Great artwork and very organized...pleasing to the eye. Even a two year old with this book could pass it. Now for the ppl that say that this guide has the wrong codes for the game like the music room and so forth. That's because this strategy guide works with version 1.2 of the game. Yes there are two versions of the game and certain codes are different then in the original one. Unfortunately you can't know which version you have until you literally buy a guide. If these codes work with your game then you have version 1.2. If not don't sweat it. Simply google Silent Hill 1 Walkthrough and you should get TONS of results from TONS of ppl who played the game and wrote down notes religiously and made their own strategy guides. In 90% of cases those are EXTREMELY complete and have touched every aspect of the game. Plus they are FREEEEE!!! So yeah, Enjoy!!

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent, February 10, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Silent Hill Totally Unauthorized Strategy Guide [for PlayStation] (Paperback)
I purchased silent hill, and I found it to be a great thrilling game, but I don't have much time to play games, so I soon found myself stuck very early on and I didn't have the drive to play the game after a hard day of work. I decided to buy this guide to save my will to explore this spooky town, and I found it perfect. I got as far as the elementary school on my own, and after purchasing this guide, I finished the game in three settings. Everything was right on and it made the game a breeze, even tells you how to get the different endings. Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Just a point I'd love to add to the others with this guide.., December 1, 2007

The game is played on normal. So don't think that, "oh, there are two versions." This is false. There is one and only one version for USA game players. If you're complaining about monsters being in wrong places or puzzels being wrong, then you know why. You must not be on normal level. All in all, this guide is pretty excelent. I won't give it 5 stars since the basic fact that there are some things left out. If you can't play on normal level, I'd suggest printing out a puzzle walkthrough from a site like gamefaqs.com

3.0 out of 5 stars No Mistakes For Me--Smooth Sailing!, March 13, 2001
This review is from: Silent Hill Totally Unauthorized Strategy Guide [for PlayStation] (Paperback)
Previous reviews have mentioned errors in the clues to this book, specifically the astrological room, and have referred readers to gaming magazines for the "true" clues. In my case, the reverse was true. The magazine clues for the astrological room were worthless, while this book got me through that puzzle with no problems at all!

I'd wager there are two "versions" of Silent Hill, each with slightly different puzzle solutions. For the version of Silent Hill I have, this book worked great. Unfortunately, you're not likely to figure out which "version" of the game you have until you follow either the magazine cheats or the cheats in this book. I don't know if the other Silent Hill strategy books are any better in this regard.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great except for one mistake., July 17, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Silent Hill Totally Unauthorized Strategy Guide [for PlayStation] (Paperback)
I thought that this book helped with a few things, however there is a mistake in the code that it gives you for the zodiac room. I was very disappointed by this one fact. Other than that it was great.
