Page-Turning Suspense, June 19, 2009
This review is from: A Silent Terror (High Stakes Trilogy, Book 1) (Steeple Hill Love Inspired Suspense #141) (Mass Market Paperback)
I am not given to reading suspense but our book club was reading this selection. I am very pleased I did. Though page-turning, this isn't all out gore and forensic evidence that leaves one sick to their stomach. I applaud the author for that......making my heart race with the terror while not grossing me out to nausea.
Marianna, who is hearing-impaired arrives home to an open door, her service dog, Twister, missing, and her roommate not responding. Slowly, as she creeps through the small house, she finds Suzanne dead on the bedroom floor with Twister harmed as well. The police are summoned and Detective Ethan O'Hara enters Marianna's life. Unfortunately this isn't the last death so Detective O'Hara is forced to work this case while his own life is in upheaval. Along the way Marianna and Ethan develop feelings, but Ethan fights them because of his secrets. Tense drama follows.
Good writing, nice flow, plausible clues, and suspects make this an entertaining, mystery read infused with Christian Hope.
Good strong read. Recommended.

Hear No Evil, June 10, 2009
This review is from: A Silent Terror (High Stakes Trilogy, Book 1) (Steeple Hill Love Inspired Suspense #141) (Mass Market Paperback)
Marianna's roommate was killed in their apartment. Now the killer seems to have targeted Marianna and is stalking her ever move. She's fearful of whoever comes near her and is always watching out behind her back. But if the killer happens to be right behind her, she won't know. Marianna is deaf which puts a whole new outlook as to solving this mystery. Will Ethan, the detective on the case, be able to find out who the murderer is and see if he can do it without losing his heart to Marianna?
This book was very unique as I had never read a mystery involving a deaf main character before. Actually it was quite interesting because I didn't realize that Marianna was deaf at first. I kept wondering why she didn't realize the intruder was in her house when it was so obvious. Luckily though I finally figured it out and it made the storyline even more interesting. Things we take for granted such as hearing someone approach us from behind or a car honking for us to get out of the way are luxuries that Marianna will never be able to attain. It makes for a very unique storyline because by removing one of the five senses, the reader and the characters have to use what's left to solve the mystery. The story is fast paced and there's a good deal amount of suspense in it. The characters are likable and the chemistry between the main characters is both believable and enjoyable to read. I quite enjoyed this book and I'm looking forward to reading more from Lynnette in the future. A wonderful addition to the Love Inspired Suspense line.

Suspense so well written...you won't be able to put this book down, January 14, 2011
I got hooked a while back on Lynette Eason's writing by someone lending me her 2 Women of Justice books...which are also awesome.
I found a preview of this book on google books, and was so drawn into the first couple of chapters (preview) that I came and got the kindle version you see here.
Worth every penny...and honestly surprised it's not priced higher. Her writing is well balanced...just enough detail, just enough relationships, character growth, and just enough suspense action. She does a wonderful job in this book of using action and events to draw out problems that the main characters have individually and bring them closer together. Definitely a great book that will get re read many times.
