4.0 out of 5 stars A counter-insurgency blueprint, February 14, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Silent war
5" X 8" , Softbound, 191 Pages, B&W photos and diagrams.
Colonel Victor Corpus' "Silent War" provides a first-hand and honest look into the challenge of communist insurgency in the Philippines and submits his views on how it can be defeated. It is the first book ever written on insurgency by a member of the Armed Forces of the Philippines based on his own inside view of the enemy, by a man who actually lived and fought on the side of the insurgents and who, in fact, became a member of the Central Committee, the hightest policy-making organ of the Communist Party of the Philippines.

"...Col. Victor Corpus, the former NPA rebel and now chief of the Intelligence Service of the AFP, whose book, Silent War, had become the veritable counter-insurgency blueprint being used by the AFP."

5.0 out of 5 stars Inside the realties of Guerrilla War, January 29, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Silent war
This book is one of the most insightful and valuable works to come out of the indigenous insurgency wars of the Philippines, "Silent War" by LTC. Corpus a Philippine trained Special Forces operator; he offers practical suggestions on the prosecution of counter-insurgency (COIN) programs. With lessons coming from one who has witnessed the painful realties from two sides of the COIN, the book exemplifies the classic Sun Tzu dictum "Know the enemy, know yourself". The recommended COIN concepts contained in the book are a synthesis of the author's personal exposure in both government and guerrilla camps based on actual conditions experienced in the Philippine conflict. This book is 5"x8" soft cover book with 192 pages and is illustrated with diagrams and pitucers.
