The casing feels like cheap plastic and seems fragile. Also, I'm only getting avg transfer (write) speed of 30 MB/s on my 3.0 port.

needed a large capacity drive for some VMware images I'm using in my computer classes. Based on experience with a 32gb drive from SP, I thought I would give them a go. Good price but not the cheapest. However, that's where the likes end. I tried to copy my virtual appliances. When it got to one that was 8gb is size, it failed. Got a "file to large for drive format". I checked and it was formatted in the exFAT format. Tried to format it using NTFS. It failed. used their util to format it to FAT32 (but ended up exFAT) Windows will not format this thing. So, it's useless at this point for my needs. I'm waiting to contact customer support but at this point, I won't be recommending this product to my classmates or future needs unless I just have a bad unit.

Pro: large capacity. Price was average

Con: Came formatted in exFAT. Failed to handle a large file (8GB). Unable to format using windows disk manager and even SP's format util won't format it to NTFS. As far as I'm concerned. Drive is DOA. Not good for such a large capacity drive. Cheap plastic thin chrome case. Seems really fragile.

This flash drive was nothing like what I expected it to be. To start off, it is very wide. If you have two adjacent USB ports like I do, you will only be able to use one of them while the flash drive is plugged in. As for the actual performance, this was actually slower than a USB 2.0 Sandisk flash drive that I have. While I don't have any USB 3.0 ports, that still doesn't explain why this drive was slower than my USB 2.0 flash drive. I'm sorry I didn't calculate the actual read/write speeds; I sent this right back after I realized how clunky and slow this was despite how it was advertised. I would not buy this again.

Since installing and loading it 25 days ago, it has performed without any glitches. I use it as a Backup Drive. It is much faster than I am and noticeably faster that my previous 8 GB HP Flash Drive, which was loaded to capacity and probably very fragmented, which I assume slowed it a bit in saving and recovering data. The new 64GB Flash Drive now has 52.1 GB free of its total 58.8 GB = 6.7 GB of files/folders.

The 64GB Silicon Power Marvel M60 provides great speed at a great price. It is a sturdy unit that I won't have to worry about keeping in my pocket with keys. The capless design is nice, and the USB connector locks in place securely when extended. Size wise, it's thin and an average length. I will say it is a bit wider than a typical flash drive. It doesn't block the USB port next to it, but it comes close. There's not enough room for a flash drive in the neighboring USB port, but there is still room for a cable to plug in next to it. Not a deal breaker for me, but something other buyers should be aware of.

Performance of the flash drive is excellent. Not quite as fast as the SanDisk Extreme, but close. It not only meets, but exceeds the manufacturer's rated speed of 180/85 MB/sec! Speed test results:

This review is for "Silicon Power 64GB Marvel M60 USB 3.0 Flash Drive, Read/Write Speed up to 180/85 MB/s SP064GBUF3M60V1S, Silver".

Performance wise, this flash drive is blazing fast. When using it with my laptop (USB 2.0), it's a lot faster than all of my other USB 2.0 drives. Here's a quick benchmark of it:

I have tested it with USB 3.0 ports, and I remember it yielding a read speed of around 150MBps and a write speed of around 100MBps. So performance wise, you're getting a really great value.

The build quality, however, leaves something to be desired. Its shell is made of 100% plastic (easily scratched plastic at that). Over the duration I've had the flash drive, it has become harder to insert it into a USB port without actually pushing the connector back into its casing. If you need a durable flash drive, then you should look somewhere else.

At the end of the day, you get a nice and speedy 64GB USB 3.0 flash drive with a somewhat below average build quality for $41. Give or take.
